Even as a huge MG fanboy, I see this as a potential disaster. The Silent Hill movie proves that having a lot of input from the games creator doesn't mean it's going to turn out good.

I've been a Christian Bale fan since SHAFT 4: SLJ's Mad Revenge (I saw American Psycho a bit late), and he's great in stuff like Equilibrium and made a believer out of me for being the new Batman... but I don't think I want to see him play Solid Snake personally. Grant it I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head that has his stoic face going on, but I'm too used to David Hayter's voice at this point, so he'd have to try and imitate Hayter and/or get re-dubbed over by Hayter. Originally Solid Snake was modeled after actor Michael Biehn (Reese from *The Terminator), but he's too old to play the role now.

The film would be better done if just made into an all CG movie, unlike the fiasco that was Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, I'm sure all of the fans of the Metal Gear franchise would go out in droves to watch a 3 hour film by Kojima. Hell I sat through the 3 hour Snake Eater "Re-cut" movie awhile back easily enough. But Bale might just pull it off. All I know is that Uwe Boll had better not be at the director's chair.

Yea my friend and I were just talking about this. Ever since I saw Final Fantasy Advent Children I've really been thinking about a cool CG Metal Gear movie (or any video game movie for that matter). This way Hideo could be the director (which would kick ass) and you could keep all the voice actors that define these characters. It's just not Snake without David Hayter as the voice and Cam Clarke as Liquid. Plus you could do any camera angle you wanted and it would look more like Hideo would envision it. I know Konami will find a way to screw up this movie, but here's hoping for a nice CG Metal Gear movie with the original voice actors.

1. i think Christian Bale might very well be a good choice for the role of Solid Snake...as long as he doesn't do anything with his voice that comes close to the husky oddness that was his Batman "voice"...

2. meethinks this might be Ryuhei Kitamura's rumored first American movie...a fanboy of his like me can only hope.

I want to agree with you on this bro, but I can't.
Unless the film is going to be totally stand-alone
and have nothing to do with the previous MG titles
at all... Kurt Russell is too old to portray the character
for a MG movie, and we all know that Solid Snake is
going to morph into Director John Carpenter for MGS 4
anyhow.

I'd rather see someone bank roll Escape From Earth
with Russell portraying Plisskin one last time over a Metal
Gear film personally. But that film probably will never see
the light of day. I know the script for it has been out for
years... thing is I can't understand how he's going to escape
Earth when he shut the damn planet down in Escape from L.A. ???

In games, having characters like The Pain, Vamp (eh, debatable with you guys), a man with an arm that takes control over his personality, etc. and putting them into a realistic world is sweet.

I personally liked Advent Children. Great action, nice CG, and a decent story. Don't get butt hurt because it's not the next Ben Hur. Maybe you should just enjoy the movie for what it is, great action with a decent story behind it, nothing more and nothing less.

BTW: I'm not sure why you've thought of me having sex with Curt, but hey, I won't destroy your fantasies odd as they are.
