BCS strips USC of 2004 national championship due to ineligibility of ex-Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush - USA Today http://usat.ly/lkryMV

Uh ...yeah, you should ...totally tell Tonk all about this, seriously.

Being from Southern California, and just how oh so very PROUD I am to have the 'asshole-factory' that is USC right near here in my town (no offense Bobak, you're one of the good ones), and since I just can't get enough of sports (!!!) I wanted to chime in and second Tonk's request.

I do love you though Tonk, and I always will.

Stripping a title is more of a symbolic act. The public will still always remember them as the team that won.

Besides, Oklahoma shouldn't of even been in that championship game. They could of benched Bush and still won by 3 TDs.

Also, I can't help but feel that college players getting paid under the table by some means is a larger issue than anyone wants to think. For every 1 player we catch, there's probably 25 more who got away with it. I'd bet money that atleast 1 player, if not 2 on Oklahoma's team that year was getting something in return. They just didn't get caught.

USC already returned almost everything associated with Bush last year, to much greater news coverage, so this is a non-story.

The real story is studying what will be left of Ohio State when the NCAA is through with them. It promises to be like the finale of "13 Assassins".

You just can't trust a coach out of Youngstown State :emb:

NCAA football is huge money. Just take Boise St. or Oregon 6 years for example. Two colleges that no one even though of when they started talking about "who's gonna be #1 this year". Hell, no one even though of them when looking at the top 25.

Now that they're both household names in the big boy club of elite teams, the schools in return are bankrolling. No telling how many millions upon millions they're making extra now. Oregon could probably build a new stadium holding an extra 30k fans and sell it out.

The NCAA schools have slowly became closer to their NFL counterpart, it's now like a business. If you can slide a player a 60k car on the side and in return bankroll 5 million from it, that's one hell of an investment payout. This "problem" will only continue to grow.

Sounds like you missed this article from last October. More relevant to the Bush story than the current Ohio St one since its about agents instead of boosters, but pretty much confirms what you said.

And the AP Championship is still the title to go by.

Fixed.
