I'm getting sick of these happ sticks its like playing on a disabled persons cab or something, has anyone managed to drill sanwa sticks so they'd fit the pre drilled holes I have for my happ competitons? sigh

I could make another control panel I guess, but the pain, the pain, if anyone has modded the sanwa stick or made some sort of plate for it to fit in , I think I remember reading about this somewhere, I'd be grateful for any information :envy:

thanks

The thing to consider is the length of the stick itself. Happ sticks are tall enough to allow for the standard thickness of a wood control panel. Sanwa/Semitsus are intended for plastic/metal bases and are about 1/2" (or more) shorter.

One time I made a wooden stick with a Sanwa in it with 3/4" thick top. I had to router in about 3/8" to create the depth needed for a proper stick height.

You might have better luck trying to mount a Semitsu stick since your bolts are already mounted...not sure how you would do the routering bit though. The mounting plates for those have 4 corner holes spread out farther than on a Sanwa plate. There *might* be a Sanwa plate similar in shape to the Semitsu, not sure though.

Hope all this helps.

I really really like Happ sticks a lot. In fact, I almost like them more than JPN sticks (more than Sanwa, for sure).... I just came here to see if it were possible. Sorry Kern.

hi, first off, thanks for the help

are you saying a semitsu stick has the same baseplate mounting holes as a happ?

its a metal control panel too, not wood , which is nice, about 2mm thick max, its bloody strong though

Since you have a metal CP you'll be in good shape. The thickness of the wood CPs is the main issue.

yeah, I don't really want other holes on the CP though so I'd like to use the happ holes if possible. I'd love to be able to make a shim or maybe just drill the holes if its simple enough and doable.

should be, I suck at this stuff though

The

Sanwa JLW-TM-8

and the

Sanwa JLW-UM-8 Bat Handle Joystick

have the same base plate holes as the happ competition sticks. I just recently replaced my tekken cab and my dynamo (marvel vs capcom) with the Sanwa JLW-UM-8 Bat Handle Joystick, and they fit perfectly. I would have gone for the Ball tops, but they were a bit too short (even though i have a metal cp)

Both of these sticks can be found at lizardlick. If you want i can snap a few pictures of my CP with both sticks to show you that they do in fact match up perfectly.

If you have a metal CP you're good to go bro, if you have a wood one, as someone has already mentioned, the sticks will be far too short

Hope that helps.

Here is a pic of my Tekken Cab (that once housed HAPP competition, now with sanwa bat tops)

Nice one Alok.

Lizard Lick rocks too Kern. Lightning fast shipping and more than honest on rates.

It's also worth mentioning that if you get bat-tops make sure you order the adapter screws. A mistake I once made.

GREAT!!

Thanks for your help guys, I'll probably order from gremlin solutions in the UK, expensive but its closer and quicker.

I'll have happ buttons still but hey, they aren't actually too bad and I could always swap them over at a later date.

Do the sanwas still have the ribbon style connector, I guess thats not too hard to deal with.

I don't like the bat tops really, however they do look shorter than my antennae-like happs.

I'll look for those ball ones, yay! thanks peeps.

Thanks for posting this thread Kern, I've been wondering the same thing myself but have been too lazy to ask.

Happ sticks are terrible...

You will be quite pleased with Sanwas.

After reading this thread, I've just modded my Hotrod SE : replaced the Happ supers by Sanwa JLW-UM-8.
They fit quite well but ideally I'll need to remove some wood so that the stick go higher on the other side of the panel.

After all good stuff I've read about Sanwa, I'm very disappointed with this stick (is it me or would the "JLW-UM-8" be *the* Sanwa stick to avoid ?).
First, the deadzone is far larger than on the supers. I've checked and it's due to the fact the microswitches are far less sensitive. Hopefully the UM-8 stick offers less overall resistance so it's not a big problem.
Second, I don't know why but for me the stick just feels *plains bad* compared the my Happ supers :( And it's not a matter of subjectivity.
My UM-8 doesn't have a perfectly smooth motion from center to the sides, it's as if it needed lubrificant - what I cannot understand is why it would need some, as it is quite new...I'm waiting some time (so that the stick get a little used) before trying anything anyway.

Anybody else experienced the same, maybe ?

(ps : I'm not gay)
