Happy birthday! I know it's a few hours early, but I might not be around the time it happens. Plus I wanted to make the thread for it lol.

Happy 26th! That's a very nice age I tell you!

Thanks, folks.
I got to visit the Georgia Aquarium and the Olympic Park Coca-Cola Museum.
I've got pictures.
I'll spare you guys all of the pictures. There are around 190 of them.

Before I get to the pictures, let's explain how the day played out.

Lucky for me (Sarcasm meter is over 9000!), my birthday fell during an elementary school fall break.
This means that the aquarium had quite the number of "age impaired" peoples.
Here's how that plays out in the grand scheme of things:
  • If a fish comes near the tank, a child is required by law to rush the tank in front of you and block your shot of the animal.
  • Other, more professional photograpologists will show up to take shots through plexiglass with huge SLR lenses and a giant flash bulb. This will happen right at the moment you think you can get a great picture.
  • There will be herds of small children under the care of a perent or grandparent. Those children will run as if no other living being is actually moving around the building until A) the parent snaps and takes them off screaming in a tantrum. Or, B) they run smack dab into somthing, hurt themselves, and the kid's guardians carry the children off screaming in a tantrum.

Other things:
All Beluga whales were absent. I knew that two had died.
There are/were zero beluga whales on display.
I'm no phographist, myself. So, these pictures aren't stellar. I didn't go to photograph for brochures, I went to enjoy my day.

I'm going to direct link these to keep from image-flood browser-killing.
Many of the species on display are mixed into the same habitat.
While the fish can exist in the same habitat, they don't co-exist naively. This is something I feel the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga does better at; this informing the visitor about the habitat and the fish itself instead of small cards that just give the fish's name.
I wasn't able to take notes on what was what.

Here goes.

There is a set of these on both sides going into the main area of the aquarium. All I remember reading is that they were used for food.

This is looking toward the left as you enter.
Past this point is a small petting area and a playcenter. A bulk of small kids stay in this area. Once you're passed this area, the going got easier.

What kid WOULDN'T use a slide where you're spit out the mouth of a whale?!

Thankfully, there were no Zombies in sight.

The placard said that these things get to be the size of cars. Those crabs must just be quite young.

This is the Asian Otter habitat. The Otters proved difficult to photograph.

I got far fewer pictures of the Coca-Cola museum.
I liked the old Underground Atlanta location much better.

Pop art in the front lobby.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo180.jpg
Old advertisement signs in the front part, and the only part of the guided tour, where they try and fail to build up the museum the way Wonka did the giant reveal of the chocolate room of his factory.

There's a video of "what happens when you put coins inside a Coca-Cola vending machine" that I found to be both morbid and insulting.

Overall, I went without photographing much of anything inside the World of Coke. It's just boring.
Instead of feeling like a museum, it feels like a giant advertisement.

Here's a part of the small, tiny reference inside of the "pop art" section of the museum where they address the "New Coke" incident.

The best part of the museum is the final part of the museum. They call it "Taste it."
You get to try products from all over the world.

There are five stations:
Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.
On each station, there is a triad of product to sample. Each station, with the exception of North America, has the same product on each side to prevent crowding.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo183.jpg
Asia Station.
Hi-C | Vegetable Water (?) | Aquarius | Fanta | Nestea | Smart Watermelon | Ice | Smart

I sampled the Vegetable water, Aquarius, the Watermelon, and Smart.
None of these left a real impression on me.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo182.jpg
Latin America Station.
Nestea (Mango?) | Delaware Punch | Ciel Aquarius | Simba | Nestea (I can't read the flavor :( ) | Fanta | Lift Cherry | Inca Kola

Delaware Punch is an excellent Grape Soda.
Simba, I think, was similar to Mellow Yellow. It's hard to judge. I haven't seen Mellow Yellow in ages and can't compare the taste of the two.
Lift Cherry didn't leave a great impression. It's decent.
Inca Kola is a cream soda. An excellent cream soda. A+ #1!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo185.jpg
Europe Station
Nestea | Fanta (?) | Nestea Lemon | A Sour Lemon Soda. I can't remember the name or read it from my photo. | Nestea Raspberry? | Fanta Grape | Mezzo Mix (Orange?) | Beverly

The Nesteas of all countries I skipped.
The sour lemon soda. This one should be expanded to other territories. I was impressed.
Fanta grape is average. Nothing compared to Delaware Punch.
Beverly is supposedly from Italy. There are better tasting Antibiotics. The happiness of the employee's day was talking people into trying Beverly.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo184.jpg
African Station.
Bibo | Sunfill | Bibo (apple?) | Spar-berry | Sunfill (?) | Krest Ginger Ale | I can't read that one | Fanta Mango

Krest Ginger Ale was the one I remember from this station.
It was stronger than regular Ginger Ale. I liked it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/kagerousama/New Photos/Atlanta Oct 9 Trip/Photo187.jpg
North America station.
This is where you start to question everything.
These are all fountain dispensers.
When I got to the North American station, I hit the drinks most familiar to me to get a fill before hitting the road. I'd not had anything to drink for most of the morning.
I hit up Tab and Fresca -- Flat. Then, I went to a side area. Coke Zero? Wrong. Diet Coke? Wrong.

I can't leave with an accurate impression of everything knowing that the drinks that were supposed to be most familiar tasted so incorrect.

It was a nice outing. Next year, though? I won't pick the same places. Neither the Aquarium or the Coke museum felt like strong outings.

Thanks again for the well birthday wishes!
