It would be a lot safer to just lock up all the suspects. After all, they might source some other weapon they can't get a gun.

Edit: Actually, we could probably interrogate all the suspects that we lock up too. That would probably net even more suspects.

Sometimes when suspects are American citizens who are 16 years old we murder them.

Okay in the federal government's defense, they go on to say that such purchases do NOT go unnoticed(ideally). When a suspect buys firearms it sets off warnings so they can keep tabs. But the FBI cannot prevent the purchase of dynamite and assault weapons by a suspect.

Also, there are so many things wrong with the fact that people in Kashmir, India are protesting for stronger gun control laws in USA.
1. Kashmir has some of the worst areas in all of India in terms of violence.
2. Sikhs all across India are still discriminated against. Hell, the Delhi riots were not that long ago. My uncle told me the horrific stories about that time; he actually was ballsy enough to escort a stranded Sikh coworker home.
3. And lastly, as someone who had a relative in India shot and killed in broad daylight, it is incredibly hypocritical for anyone in India to criticize US gun culture. I mean driver's licenses are a joke there so you can imagine.

A thread in whence I make a Fast and Furious joke.

At least the BATFE has a proven track record of keeping firearms out of the hands of actual terrorists...oh wait.

But I dunno man, I can't get behind an administration and a government that murders its own citizens abroad who are "suspected" of terrorism. The only thing Al-Awlaki did was exercise his 1st Amendment right. Dude wasn't even on a most wanted list, because to be on such a list you have to be charged for a crime.

Where were the charges? Terrorism is a criminal act, not an act of War. In war such killings can, at a minimum, be justified.

We aren't at war.

The guy had known ties to terrorist networks that we ARE AT WAR with. He's better off dead.

I'm not saying he wasn't a terrorist, I'm just saying it's a terrible precedent.

Just imagine if this guy was a Muslim who opened fire in a christian church.

You wouldn't be hearing shit about gun control or hate crime. We'd be getting floored with "terrorism" from every media source.

Reminds me of when the entire city of Mumbai was under siege from a group of terrorists.

I suppose that the proper anti-"Bush Imperialist" response is that the United States government effectively taught this guy how to use a firearm with murderous efficiency. Slap that in juxtaposition with people who are both pro-firearms and pro-military, and what is their retort?

They didn't teach him well enough, because he used a 9mm, rather than a larger caliber with more stopping power. Wrong tool for the wrong job, but based on the available knowledge of his service-record, he was a colossal fuck-up in the army, so he's a good example of a bad example.

My new life goal is to get kicked out of the armed services for being drunk and AWOL, just like this guy.

Was he dishonorably discharged because that, in many cases, carries the same penalties as a felony criminal conviction?

Administrative discharge if I remember correctly.
