Guitar Hero DS Opinions?

I picked up a copy of this yesterday and actually don't know if I like it or not. I am a huge fan of Guitar Hero and really like the idea behind the DS version but it does feel a little lacking.

I really don't have a problem with the look of the game or really how it plays. However, while I like the idea of the guitar glove, I don't know that it is that fun to play the game this way. There is just something about how you hold the DS and being too close (cramped) that I am not sure that I like. I also would have liked to get an actually DS case with the game but I guess that is just being picky.

IGN gave this a 9/10 so maybe I need to spend more time with it. Anyone else grab this and have an opinion on it?

The track listing is terrible...the worst of any guitar hero game to date. Also, the strap is useless because when you actually tighten it, if you move your hand too much the buttons pull out of the gba slot. When this happens its not just a reisnert and press start to continue, but rather you have to turn off the system and start over. Also, on expert the track starts to chugg on fret heavy songs...not that there is too many of them on there though. Also, the pick stylus is used so much, that after about an hour of play your ds screen is fucking scratched to shit, so buy a screen protector if you haven't already.

It should have been Fiddle Hero with Bow Stylus the way you have to hold/play the damn game. Seriously.

Except they didn't develop it..Vicarious Visions did.

Neversoft only dumps all over console versions.

Wow, I just don't know what to say on this one... this is a case where no matter what the reviews say, no matter how positive they may be, I absolutely, positively, will not play it.

Just don't like the idea of "strumming" on the touch screen. I do not like it one bit.

I have already listed mine on Ebay. Even though I wanted to like it, I just couldn't get into it.

IMO the strumming in Jam Sessions (which you can get for $5 at TRU) works better than the DS version of GH.

I thought this looked a bit half baked from the moment I first saw it. I'll never spend any money on this.

Plus, it's $50. For that price, you can get one of the GH games that doesn't suck as bad.

Yeah I got it... I thought it was just OK. The songs suck balls with a few exceptions to some of the recycled songs. But all the new songs are lame as hell. As mentioned the problem with the attatchment coming out of the game port way too easily.
After you get used to the odd way of playing the game the game is really quite easy. It seems to have more forgivness when it comes to timing.

I picked it up because a coworker said she loved playing it. I put about an hour into it, though it's not the best thing I've played, it's not too bad. i'm wishing that I could have rented first but, oh well. IGN gave it a nine, but I think it deserves mroe a 7 or 8 tops. My big complaint is the thing coming out of place and when you readjust the strap comes loose. The songs though weren't all too bad in my opinion. only 25 songs is a bit of a downer though. I let a few of my friends play it, and their fingers seem to be too big for the controls. This is a game definately marketed for kids. Playing with the stylus took some getting used to. But it was definately a lot simpler after knowing how to play. Keep your wrist straight like it says or your hand will cramp a lot quicker. Oh and a screen protector is a must.

Controls- comes out of slot pretty easy. small buttons, strap comes loose, easy to cramp your hands- Rated 5

Music- Song list isn't really as bad as many people make it out to be. It's definately targeted toward kids though- 8

Graphics- Not nearly as beautiful as the console version, But for the DS it gets the job done- 8

Gameplay- use a stylus to strum/whammy bar. Plays like any other GH except with 4 instead of 5 buttons. Pretty easy once you get used to it. - 7

Lasting Appeal- GH on the go. TThis game is definately mainly for kids. I've yet to play multiplayer so I'll keep unrated.

So to me it only gets a 7 which is about what Gamespy and Gamespot gave. It's definately a tad bit expensive for a DS game. I'd maybe wait until it goes down in price. I'll probably end up trading it to a friend. When it came to music games for the DS, I think I'd pick up Elite Beat Agents over this one.

I've only played it a little bit --after reading all the hatorade regarding the game-- but I don't think its as bad as everyone's made it out to be. I could see how it might stress someone's wrist (I was curious about that from the first images of the controller), but I've been pretty good about developing my wrists for weight training so no issues so far...

Just played this for a bit and think it's alright.

You just can't hold it the way it's designed to.

I don't even put my hand in the strap I just slip my thumb in the top part of the strap holder and keep the rest of my hand outside of it.

Gets a bit tiring after a few songs, but it's not that bad.

Takes a bit of getting used to using the pick though, but it works well enough after some time.

The song list is easily the weakest in the series but there's enough there I like so I'm not too pissed about it.

Stray Cat Strut alone goes a long way in my book.

All-in-all, it's a workable idea.

Not nearly as cool as the original games and their "guitars" but a solid effort.

EDIT: Yeah, and headphones are a must.

Now that I look at the music selection, I think I'd like to pick this up.

Here I thought this could be a good "excercise tool" for my guitar hero sessions, but I tried it and was sadden...this could have been good.

The thing with this game is that you have to keep your wrist straight like the warning at the begining of the game shows. The first time I played it while I was at Gamestop my writ hurt bad after playing it. But after playing it at home I had no wrist pain. Only Finger pain from cramping my fingers in an odd position because of the tiny little buttons.

I played it for a few minutes at TRU a few weeks ago and really didn't care for it. And that promo video for it really didn't help things, either...

I just got this thing, 'cause I saw someone playing it and connected his DS to a freaking AMP! Talk about dedication, so I saw it in action and I felt that it would be a good tool for practice on the other GH games, I dunno...it seemed like a good idea at the time.

After playing the first 4 which I hated them all, but I'm resigned to accept the fact that GH is a game for the masses so I deal with it. At any rate, after playing the game for a few minutes I found that I had to adjust myself to the damn thing, I mean the strap is kind of sucky and it doesn't let you press the buttons freely, so is kind of difficult, I was hoping for a 5th button, but I can see that being a problem given that you cannot move your hand.

I'm still pondering if this is worth the time, but then again if I don't like it I'll just give it to my niece, she'll love it.

On another note has anybody played the GH Aerosmith? Is it any decent or just another milking?
