Oh, admit it!... Nash/Charlie is a complete rip-off of Guile!... But what Capcom does best is that they gave Nash/Charlie a time to shine by giving Guile a short hiatus in fighting games... Good for them 'cuz Nash/Charlie was a hit!...

Chalie should be since they are best friends. I've known about Charile for years before he was even made into an actual character. Guile's story for years was that his friend charlie died and that's why he's pissed at Bison. He holds up Charlie's dog tags in Super Street Fighter for god's sake.

So to call him a rip off? No, he plays just the way he should. He fought with Guile for crying out loud. I remember the first time I saw SFA, and I was like "WTF!!!!"... this was before the internet for me, and it just came out in the arcades. I knew exactly who Charlie was and I though "how cool".

Um... but, again, Guile's the ultimate badass. Who died again? Not Guile. ;)

I always appreciated the character design for Charlie/Nash...

but Guile came out of the gate a straight murderous bastard starting in Street Fighter II, and in his latest incarnation in SvC...well my friend and I used to refer to CPU Guile as a damn child molester for the way he manhandled some folks...

That's not really true. According to the Street Fighter Storyline Guile is a rip-off of Charile. Capcom officially stated that Charile was the one who invented the Sonic Boom and Flash Kick. And Charile taught these attacks to other members of the army. Why you think Guile sucked in SFA3? Capcom made him suck on purpose for Storyline reasons. Charile taught Guile what he knows thus making Charile better than Guile.

Very true about the Charlie training Guile thing. Also notice the complete lack of effort on Charlie's part, the one handed Sonic boom, how he exudes style upon landing from a somersault kick, and it's clear to see who taught who, and who the champ is!!:smirk:

I personally Think guile is better cause he is The American hero
but Nash/Charlie has more stylish flash kicks and sonic booms

Gonna' have to side with Charlie on the strenth issue. Even M. Bision in SF2 admitted that Guile wasn't the runt he used to be.

My one complaint with Charlie: No Handcuffs glitch.
I remember the SF2 machine in tne bowling alley around here. People would use the handcuffs and forget to undo the glitch before the round ended, so the machine froze up.

The really made the operator mad. They got to a point where the Bowling alley owners outlawed the move and banned anyone who used it from using the machine. Mostly becasue they were tired of having to move the cabinent, unplug the machine, and plug it back in.

I still have to side with Guile on a personal basis. I've become quite adept with charge characters because of ol' Guile. (With the exception of Venom from GGX) --that, and Charlie's timing is slightly different than Guile's.

Gotta' love Guile's SFA3 quote though. "What, no handcuffs? Fighting isn't what it used to be."

Storyline wise Charlie is far better then Guile ever became. Charlie could not only throw Sonic booms with one hand something Guile still can't do by the time of SF2 but Charlie can throw Sonic booms from his legs to. But what do you expect Charlie was one of the strongest characters in the SFA games

Guile, because he remains the same broken character that he's always been.

God, if there's a character that truely needs to be raped, it's Guile!

Not wild about any of these guys.

I like both, but I definitely prefer Charlie.

Storyline wise, Charlie is incredibly powerful, way stronger than Guile. He taught Guile the Sonic Boom and Flash Kick. Guile in SF Alpha 3, in his pre-fight dialogue with Charlie, even admits that Charlie is the better of the two.

Either way, it still doesn't change the fact that you give Charlie too much credit.

I don't really care much for their storylines, but gameplay wise, I prefer Guile over Charlie, especially in SFA3.
Guile's Flash Kick may have a shorter reach, but it comes out faster.
I like to play with Charlie as well tough.

I just wanted to add that Charlie may be God Tier in Capcom world, but I don't think he'd be as high tier in the SNK universe as he is in the Capcom one.

Well seeing how charlie is died i don't think he would be eithar.
But Charlie even being a "God Tier " Capcom character the SFA game still was surpassed by other character by the time of SF2 & SF3.

But then i don't know it I would really trust the Tiers in the SFplotguide all that much because that is just the person that made the Plotguide putting them how he thinks they should go from the info he has
but their are some things he seems to have forgot about like

He has Sean in Tier 10 (the lowest tier) but Sean KO'ed a guy that Zangief was wrestling for the WWC championship. Now I don't know but lets say this person is about as strong as Zangief (Tier 5) seeing how he is wrestling him for the championship, and Sean can KO him with just one move. Now that said's something for Sean.

ALso he has Gen in Tier 3. Now Gen beat Akuma in SFA3 which shows Gen is stronger then SFA3 Akuma. But SF3 Ryu is in Tier 2 who is very strong but still not as strong as SFA3 Akuma (SFA3 Akuma can destroy an island with one punch). So Gen should be at the bottom of Tier 1 or at lest the head of Tier 2.

Another thing is he has SF2 Bison in Tier 2 with ryu & sagat. Now SF2 Bison is not really all that strong seeing how he was beat by SF2 Guile who is down in Tier 4.

Oh and Charlie was never a God Tier character that's like saying Terry is God Tier and lets face it he's not.

For the record, The only reason I said Charlie was "God Tier" was to keep TerryBogard off my back about him :mr_t: I don't think Charlie is that strong at all, and by the time SF2 and SF3 take place, I'm sure Charlie has been outclassed by everyone (Including Guile) except for Dhalsim and Ken.
