I've never really heard that much about the Xbox ports of GTA3/Vice City. Besides the custom soundtrack feature, are they really that much better than their PS2 cousins?

Most of the reviews say that they are perfect ports and then some. The graphics have been given a slight upgrade, though most people don't play GTA for the graphics anyway. Just picture the game a little less blurry.

If you have a good 80's music collection though..

It's just the same, any upgrades are negligable.

I've never understood the awful shimmering graphic effect in the GTA III games, wtf is that all above, it just looks stupid imo.

Excellent port. Although it isn't fundamentally different from the PS2 versions, for most people that's a good thing. The custom soundtrack option is nice, especially if you're an 80's junkie with tons of Duran Duran cd's like me :D.

I just finished beating them both last week.

Very good ports, it was my first time with both and I was thoroughly addicted.

Thanks for the info guys! :)

I think I'll just stick with the PS2 versions since I only own a small handful of CD's (all of them are from the 80's however ;)) so the custom soundtrack feature really wouldn't come in all that handy for me in the first place. It's cool though, the last thing I need to do at the moment is to buy another console.

A little glitchy but minor graphical upgrades. Nice for X-Box owners, but nothing to otherwise write home about.

If you already own the PS2 games don't bother, essentially.

I experienced "sellers remorse" after selling my copy of Vice City and since then bought the Xbox Double Pack simply because of the slightly nicer looking graphics and custom soundtracks.

Faster loading time and all the graphics on the vehicles are redone. One of the better port over games.

Seeing a nice clear game without trails was one nice thing. However, the port addressed the most important issue that GTA needed in the first place. An improved framerate, particularly noticible for the driving. Much needed, and much appreciated. I normally play Vice City, though. Mainly because I'm a fan of the 80s stuff and definitely a fan of 80's action shows. It did a pretty nice job of having the atmosphere intact.

Look at the differnce. PS2 on left Xbox on right. You get a farther view, 5.1 DD, no loading when you cross the bridge, custom Soundtrack, and of course way better graphics.

one of the biggest improvments: not having to wait 5 minutes for vice vity to load up.

The graphics are cleaner (lighting, indivual fingers)

Custom soundtracks

Quick load times

2 excellent games for the price of one.
