This guy won 4 of my ebay auctions including a Modded AES. He has an account here "DAVID PEREZ" http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/member.php?userid=1537

And his feedback on eBay is solid no Negatives. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=perez128k

Yesterday I received the following e-mail from paypal.
It has come to our attention that you may be the recipient of potentially unauthorized funds. We have initiated an investigation into this event. In the meantime, we have placed a temporary hold on the funds in question until the investigation is complete. This temporary hold will show as a deduction in your available balance. In the meantime, you are free to continue transacting using your PayPal account.

Transaction Date: Sep. 29, 2005 18:51:50 PDT
Transaction Amount:
Payor's Email: CARIBEPOOL78@aol.com

And now my paypal account is -$600 (the sum total of all the funds he sent me via paypal. )

Because of his high feedback I want to hope this is a mistake. And I sent him an email saying WTF. But I have a bad feeling. But hopefully this will be covered under ebays "Seller Protection" but I guess I have to fill a lot of shit out. Oh well.

Anyone have any info/suggestions?

Thanks for the good luck.

And I'm betting a fake credit card or something probably might be going on here.

But like I said, worse comes to worse hopefully I'll be covered by ebay seller protection.

If somebody pays through Paypal using fraudulent funds, it should be Paypal who takes the loss, not the legit seller that receives the funds. This is total bullshit :oh_no:

In Spain, David Pérez is like John Smith. It's a extremely common name, there must be thousandas of men called like that.

I sold an item to David Perez 2 weeks ago and i have received the same thing from Paypal, minus $80 from my account. I checked his recent purchases and he has spent alot on neo stuff over the last few weeks. I think this is 1 of 2 things:

He used mothers or fathers cc without permission.
He is scamming everyone by claiming cc was used without authorization and then getting to keep the goods and get his cash back.

I phoned paypal and they said if i had tracking number, e-mails, and any other info they would pay, not me. But, since it's been over 2 weeks since sale i no longer have this info.

I was going to email everyone he had bought off to see if the same is going on with everyone. Well it looks like 2 of us are affected. I think he is in the process of scamming us, and we are going to be out of a game, and the cash we got for the game. Double Blow

The moral of the story?

Fuck paypal.

Lockdown on honest sellers isn't going to dissuade dishonest buyers.

Shit.

Bluevoodu pmed me and said he dealt with him but had no problems.

Now that there is two and he refuses to address this thread or my email... (Have you emailed him) leads me to believe this was a scam... probably fraudulent credit card.

I have emailed him twice this weekend, no reply. Also he bought a item on ebay on Sunday, so he is still operating on ebay.

Was his shipping address through paypal a confirmed address? If it was you should be covered by paypal

something similar happened to me like that. about a year and a half ago, i sold a couple of PS2 games on Ebay, received payment through PayPal for them and then got caught up in some shit like that.

they didn't have a chance to block the money because i'd already taken it out of PayPal, but they hit me with the negative balance and basically ordered me to pay the balance, which i thought was bullshit since i received the payment and shipped the goods.

2 days later, i get the package back in the mail. the address wasn't correct or some shit so i got my shit back and put the money back in PayPal to end it.

complete bullshit, but at least i got my crap back to sell again (which i did). hope this shit works out for you, man.

So I see sellers are totally defenseless here... I mean, you had no way to check the legitimacy of the funds, it's Paypal who does the control and charges you fees for it, so WTF? This is making me seriously consider not keeping using paypal for selling... Anyway I sell few stuf and never to strangers in ebay anymore, only people I somehow now in forums like this one...

Good luck man.

Why do people have to do scams for...? I always get worried when I win auctions on ebay,etc.. that I won't get my items and lose my money ontop of that. LOL, I'm afraid to buy from florida after reading threads on the forums here. Bidding on an item on Ebay at the moment and it's in florida... so I'm sort of stressed as it will be a possible big spend. Hope it all goes well if I win..

My High School friend Nate Sherman goes to Cal Sate Long Beach. I called him up today to see if he wouldn't mind paying our friend in La Miranda a visit. He said he's down with it, and should be stopping by in the near future.

this reminds me of Big Lebowski, what if this guy was like 15 and WAS using his parents CC.

"THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS DAVID"

good luck Curt, hope things work out for you, i thought i almost got scammed because i bought a lot of comics off one seller and he gave me the excuse of "he had legal troubles and couldnt send them out" he still sent em and i still got em, but still. people these days, i love how they take their sweet ol time to ship out when they have a responsibility to ship at their earliest convienence.

I'm sorry to hear of your stories.

I sold him some items back in the summer. He paid for them, requested some more, and once I sent him the total for the next set he vanished on me. I still have everything and haven't had any claims from PayPal, so I didn't know anything such as this had cropped up.

I've got to go now but if I can help with my intermittent being on-line, I shall be glad to.

Thanks NBM.

I also find it weird that he has had I believe 5 transactions from me, but only 2 of them (more expensive) were flagged by Paypal and my funds Held/Deducted. This leads me to believe that for the other items he must have selected another form of payment, (direct from bank account?) while using another (probably credit card) for the other flagged items.

So your items were probably payed for legitmately, with northernsoul and I being the unlucky ones. (so far)

My cousin went down there today, to the address supplied. But no one was home, and there was a for sale sign posted. He checked around and found out that the family is supposed to still live there. He left a note detailing the situation. A couple hours later he received a call from a "Alex Perez" which he said sounded like Bullshit, "trying to sound like his Dad" or something. And was told that David had moved to Arizona with his mom, and wasn't here anymore. He also said he didn't know much about Paypal but he would "cut (my cousin) a check" but my cousin declined because he thought it'd be better to deal with me directly. Also if payment is going to be sent, money order would be the best way to do it, because a check can have payment stopped.

My cousin gave me a number for "Alex Perez" so i'm going to give that a try.
