Let’s be real, at what moment Beast busters would exceed CPU/Sprite budget? lol. This was explained as impossible due to the beast busters board having far greater capability than the neo geo can provide.
This reminded me that there is a pretty decent version for the GameBoy Color so theorectically it could be done on the Neo without polygons. Shock Trooper gfx for the overhead sections and any first person action could be done like Super Spy/Crossed Swords/Nam' 75.I want Metal Gear Solid.

I doubt that anything remotely close to that would ever happen, but there are plenty of "impossible ports" out there. It's almost ironic that a ported version of Golden Axe will probably end up as the best Neo beat-em-up.
I'm keeping that one.But it's effort. It's like going to some dude in a hard hat working his ass off with a picture of a house and saying "I'd love to see this built on my property". But unlike a construction worker these people are too polite to tell you to fuck off for the suggestion.![]()
I'd do that deal with you... but for slightly less agregious quid pro quo of just banning some of the idiots who don't get the message around here.I'd kill for a Neo OutRun.
Always ironic that the rich man's console got stuck with the poor man's Final Fight.
Yep. Someone on the Neo Geo reddit asked for Ninja Baseball Batman. Do a few 68K ports, and soon they ask for the moon.Let’s be real, at what moment Beast busters would exceed CPU/Sprite budget? lol.
When they say it's impossible they mean it's impossible to do tweaks to have the original code work. Of course you could (probably) port Beast Busters to the Neo hyphen Geo with much more effort than Shinobi and all other ports. Someone did that to Xevious if you missed it (the original PCB was a z80 IIRC).

I'm tempted to accept this offer.I'd do that deal with you... but for slightly less agregious quid pro quo of just banning some of the idiots who don't get the message around here.
Final Fight, Hoffman. Final Freakin Fight!
(With the Mega CD tracks!!! ^^, since they're going to be sampled to mono ADPCM tracks!)
Sadly I can't see any CPS game happening on the Neo, because of the difference in resolution. Sega's System 16 has a perfect match with the Neo, 320x224, and I imagine that's one of the reasons we're gettin' so many great ports and so fast. But with the CP System you have to adapt 384 horizontal pixels (×224) to 320, and that means either cutting a lot of the screen, or do a massive resize work, all done by hand by a graphic artist (if you don't want it to look like ass), like they did with the Street Fighter 2 sprites for most home conversions. It's the difference between weeks of work and years.
Of course you could use the Mega Drive or Super Nes sprites for Final Fight, but that'd kinda defeat the purpose of a conversion.
Careful h0ffman, you've just put a flea in everyone's ear... they're gonna ask you Final Fight next!View attachment 82299
Not sure that would really be a problem. Resizing the graphics opens up a world of pain but clipping the edges would work much better. Text layer would need some work for the HUD and the scrolling routines would have to compensate for the edges but you have to re-write those for the NG anyway.
One of me fave games, I would be mad happy to play that one on my Neo.Reckon it would be fine. Anyway, I'm doing rainbow islands next just to piss everyone off.

I don't remember anyone complaining about this demo back thenThe characters' aspect ratio would probably look a bit odd... But might still work well enough?

Well yeah that’s the problem of clipping the edges, the sprites are drawn like that because the artists knew they would be flattened horizontally, if you just clip the viewport all sprites will look chonky as fuckThe characters' aspect ratio would probably look a bit odd... Hey, it can't be as bad as people uploading videos of retro games in 16:9 right?Well yeah that’s the problem of clipping the edges, the sprites are drawn like that because the artists knew they would be flattened horizontally, if you just clip the viewport all sprites will look chonky as fuck
For Saturn ports, Capcom games clipped the edges by default. Capcom usually got around gameplay differences by letting the player choose Saturn/orignal or arcade borders (characters can go slightly offscreen as in the 2nd picture or they stay within the bounds of the screen as in the 1st picture).Hey, it can't be as bad as people uploading videos of retro games in 16:9 right?
