Give the 'Buddy List' some oomph

I noticed that adding people to the 'Buddy List' doesn't amount to a helluva lot of beans in this world. Adding people to the 'Ignore List' has the immediate satisfying effect of reducing the amount of onscreen nonsense... I don't wish to petition to have 'Add [member name] to Ignore List' on the pop-up shortcut however, 'cos I firmly believe that dialogue is the solution to conflict resolution and we could use more of it. Some members are vaccinated against reasonable discussion though, which is why some end up on my ignore list.

Maybe have hearts highlight a buddy's posts and extra blinking stuffs? The blinking html tag no longer works though 'cos no one could find any practical and non-annoying uses for it --- maybe a neon sign announcing 'Buddy?'
