This is so unbelievably sad…
Now granted, I'll admit that Ghostbusters II was pretty limp, so it's not like 1 and 2 were these epic masterpieces…but 1 was a masterpiece. For 1 to be so amazing and 2 to be ok…only to be followed up so much later by this?
It's pretty obvious this shit isn't made for us…or any fan of the first film. I just can't be. This is for the younger crown not yet even born when GB came out that really have no clue what a good GB film should be.

I just ignore these films, I really think it's the only thing keeping me from losing my mind (well, my movie mind, that is). I will never watch them...the most involved I will get with these is bitching on a site like this.

Original GB...1984. Original ECTO-1, 1959 Caddy. "new" GB...2015. "New" ECTO-1...1989 caddy.
I know the original E1 was an ambulance...but a 1989 ambulance wouldn't work well so an '89 Caddy-hearse is a much better visual fit.
Of all things about this abortion that do bother me...the new ECTO-1 isn't one of them...

For me it's always been one of the icons of the movie. It's like doing a Back to the Future remake and replacing the delorean with a Ford Escort....it just doesn't do it for me.

I've always believed that once a stage is set for a movie...if you're going to remake it, you have to keep the stage the same.
Ghostbusters had a stage set...male cast. It just is what it is. One can't help but feel this is a PR/PC stunt rather than an honest attempt to redo a real GB film.
It is just absurd in the opposite direction. Alice in Wonderland...now Alex in Wonderland.
GB is an iconic film...take any iconic film staring a mostly female cast and make it male and it would be just as absurd...

another BIG issue with this film is just the pure pedigree of he actors in it.

Bill Murray
Dan Aykroyd
Harold Ramis
As the lead roles...I mean talk about top of their game legends...these guys simply cannot be replaced let alone by the lackluster actors chosen for the new film.

Rick Moranis
Annie Potts
Made for, humorous supporting roles
(sorry, not a big Sigourney Weaver or Ernie Hudson fan...neither were bad by any means but definitely up to par with the 5 I mentioned above).
These people cannot be replaced easily and to even attempt to do so would take some serious talent...way more than what they decided to go with.
I agree...but some of what you talk about just happened unintentionally. The original ECTO-1 was simply a 30 year old car at the time...a cool 30 year old car at the time but it was put on screen as a cheap, old hunk of junk (that magically became this clean, kick ass car). The DeLorean was an odd duck, already out of production car by 1985 that had a neat social stigma attached to it.
(god forbid) If they were to redo Back to the Future...they'd have to search high and low for a modern car like the DeLorean was back in 1985. Something like a Acura/Honda NSX or something. Not insanely costly, but still seen as rare and exotic.

I was hyped for the BTILC comic that's coming out now which picks up right at the end of the movie but I stopped getting it after the 6th issue and I stopped fully reading it after the second issue
And I knew when they cast that black chick that they just wanted a fucking stereotype and damn it they proved me right, I ain't spending no money on any of this shit but this movie will make a couple million cause of hate watchers and fans of McCarthy, Wig and the director
