I loved playing Gears with my nephew. We must have put hundreds of hours into those games. Same with RE 5, although mostly Mercenaries mode.

I think I beat the first two on the hardest difficulties and that shit was no joke.

I liked the first couple a lot, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about them now. Not in terms of gameplay or anything, but just that very brown/grey visual style that was all the rage back then is kind of boring now to me.

I enjoyed Horde mode in Gears 2 and playing through the first couple of campaigns in co-op back in the day but those games did not age well. They're ugly and bland looking, the enemies are all bullet sponges and the focus on shooting from cover completely stopped any momentum the game would build up. It was just move 25 ft., sit behind a wall and shoot for 5 minutes, move 25 ft. etc. Shit's boring.

I might get the new remaster just to play co-op again with buddies but I'm absolutely not paying $40 for that shit.

Vanquish, Binary Domain, and The Club were a much better trio of third person shooters than the Gears trilogy. SEGA was cooking in that genre on 360/PS3.
