EA Sport games.

I hated all the EA sport games when I was growing up. The only sport game I enjoyed was NFL Blitz and NHL hitz due to the violence.
Though today I feel i have done a 180 cause FIFA is pretty fun to play with friends and so is the Hockey game.

The Elder Scrolls

When I first tried Morrowind on the original Xbox I thought the game was garbage. The combat system was awful, the graphics weren't the best I'd seen at that time, and its rpg systems were foreign to me. I had little experience with action/rpgs outside of PSO, Diablo, and Record of Lodoss War at that time. I walked away after an hour unimpressed.

A few months later I was watching my friend play Morrowind. Of course he was much further than I was. He took the time to breakdown the rpg system for me, showing me what skills and stats mattered for which way I was playing the game. In the end I spent over a thousand hours, across a half dozen different character build, on Morrowind. The following games Oblivion and Skyrim vastly improved the issues I had with the combat system, and the series quickly became one of my absolute favorites in the hobby.

Same for me. Morrowind gets hailed in some circles as the best Elder Scrolls game. Pfft, the combat sucks ass, the graphics suck ass and I found it player unfriendly (which sucks ass). Oblivion was just spectacular, as was Skyrim.

I didn't like the look of Fallout 3 when it came out. Let's face it, it's an ugly game. So much grey and brown. I played it after I played New Vegas (which is superior to 3) and I loved it. Then I went back to Fallout 2. I wouldn't have liked an older game in the series, with Elder Scrolls I just can't get into Arena or Daggerfall. With Fallout 2 though it was something else. I ate that shit up.

I used to hate point and click games. But after blistering my thumb playing a couple fighting games on a regular pad, all I've done in the past month is go through Monkey Island, Sam and Max, and a couple other similar series. While they're not going to take over my main gameplay time, I actually enjoyed the gags and storylines.

I grew up with the Street Fighter crowd and dislike the King of Fighters series even though I never play the game before. I eventually grew tired of SF and decided to give Kof a shot, turns out I enjoy the series very much.

I used to dislike Mortal Kombat when it first came out - I didn't think it was a 'real fighting game.' Probably due to the choppier type of movement IIRC. Now I'm pretty into it save for a couple bad entries in the franchise *(MK vs DC Universe comes to mind) Injustice and the most recent MK reboot are enjoyable.

RE4 changed my mind on the RE series. After I had completed 4 dozens of times, I felt that it was time for a retrospective, played all the older games in chronological order and had a real blast with them. I still could kick myself for ignoring them for so long. However, part 5 made my interest wane a little again, IMO there's zero RE atmosphere in it. And fuck that co-op/online/whatever crap, this is RE, not a friggin' FPS.

I think the GameCube is probably, very well, mostly responsible for generating a new wave of RE fans, thanks solely to REmake and RE4. As mentioned in my opening post, that's pretty much how it all panned out for me vs having no interest in the PS1 versions when they were current.

And, totally agree re: RE5. I was REALLY anticipating its release vs RE4, which at the point of RE5's release, was - for me - still the best game I had ever played. So, anticipation was set to 11.

Needless to say, it didn't, on any level, meet my levels of anticipation and, if I'm honest, I even struggled to complete it!

5 years later, I should maybe re approach it and see if I feel differently playing it now.

FYI... I didn't even bother with RE6. Still plan to do Revelations in future though, although the demo left me somewhat indifferent...

Fixed!

4 had no zombies. It should have been named something different. The RE franchise died to me with 4.

It's not a bad game, it's not RE is all.
