GameCube Fans in the Cold?

Is SNK versus Capcom Chaos coming to the GCN? I sure as hell hope so. Also why didn't SNK bring out the KOF 2000/2001 combo game pack for the GCN? Why all the PS2 exclusivity? PS2 sucks ass and the GameCube could make a perfect translation that would be far superior to anything that the PS2 'Emotion Engine" can produce. Don't let the small Cube deceive you, the IBM PowerPC processor chip includes the 'Velocity Engine' from the Apple G4 chip, and the ATI graphics card stomps the competition.

Didn't Capcom realize that Nintendo has always been good to them, ever since the 8-bit glory days of MegaMan? And SNK, what happened there? Why give PS2 the KOF combo package? Why not capitalize on the hordes of Cube owners who love KOF? I'm one of those fans. I own a Neo cartridge system but you can't tell me that KOF would look worse on the GCN than the Neo. The GCN would be a beautiful platform to really show off KOF to the SNK fans as well as newcomers with GameCubes. If it isn't released for the GCN that is gonna suck. I own SNK versus Capcom EO for the Cube... I'd buy Chaos in a second without any hesitation and as for KOF 2000/2001 bundle, hot damn I'd be giddy as a little girl.

It's all about demographics, Devils. The fact remains that even though the Gamecube is the better system graphically, the PS2 has a larger user base which in the end equals more exposure / sales. It's a sad reality but there isn’t too much we can do about it.

the gc just aint cut out for fighters man -

1. The special format used on gc discs would cost alot of extra money to any company making games for it. This is one of the main reasons that snk/playmore says that GC isn't a viable option.

2. The controller. You would be forced to buy a fighting stick as the gc controller is just wretched for fighting games. DC was probably the best (for 4 button fighters, 6 button ones are a little hard but you get used to it) and the ps2 controller is above average for fighters. The Xbox s controller is decent.

3. The market for 2-d fighters is small on the ps2, let alone the GC. A port would be nice for the gc, but the profit would be next to nothing according to what snk/playmore believes.

but one thing makes me want them on gc, how easy it is to play import games on the damn thing :(

The reasons SNKP gave over a year ago for no ports on the Cube are :

1) Small installed user base (many cube owners also own another system

2) Development costs were higher on the cube than ps2

Why do people complain about this stuff, ps2s are damn cheap and have proven to be the most established platform. Why not just get one if you want ports?

Oh, yeah, the PS2 is more than capable of running neo ports. The 2k port has no loads, animation cuts, or slowdown in any way, the system isn't underpowered for running low-res low-animation games like anything that's seeing current release on the neo. It's powerful enough that even SNK's crap software porting teams can make a decent port on it.

I complaine because the Cube is my favorite Next Gen Console at the moment. But I too hate the controller for fighters. I need to get one of those kick ass SNES Cube controllers.

Maybe this will all change due to the GC great sales as of late. All I own for next gen consoles are my GC and my GBA. Unfortunatly for me the fighting genre is my favorite :annoyed:

Sad, but true. The thing is, the ps2 has a wider exposure rate and competes in sales with the xbox. The gamecube kind of stands on its own. When it came down to holiday shopping, the playstation 2 was farther ahead then the gamecubes. yes, it's an awesome price, an awesome system, and got a wide range of quality games. But a giant corporation is going to choose the system that is more "popular" and has more exposure to different audiences. And usually the gamecube also appeals towards 'younger' generations and audiences, while the ps2 does it for both. I know of families who own a playstation 2, and no other system (Kids can enjoy it, and adults, so this exposes the game to both audiences). Usually if someone owns a cube, they own a few other systems as well..and sometimes it's only the kids playing it. There's just more of a chance of profit if it's on the playstation 2.

honestly... the cube controller is not as bad as what you think for fighters. Doesn't it play WONDERFULLY with Soul Calibur 2?

its all in the designers layout and buttong config.

Neolord... sad but true, and your right on that.... :(
but what they don't see is that if you keep offering good games across more platforms... eventually people WILL get going onto more systems... and play their games over there as well... and like it really costs them a lot of money to port a game to another console.... you know?

oh well I guess.

I think the GC could be a great system for fighters if someone would just release a decent fighting game controller.

I think the controller overall for the GC is great, but for fighters it's quite lacking. I'm not really a huge guy, but the d-pad on the GC controller looks like it was made for barbie dolls.

Someone suggested this above, and I think if they just released a SNES-style controller for the GC that it would be a vast improvement for fighting games.

A huge arcade stick would be optimal I suppose, but a really nice one (like an arcadex stick or something) is just too expensive for most people. Two of those things and I'm approaching the cost of an NGH cart. And with my budget, I must restrict my lunacy to only one game system.
