Played Solar Striker for the first time in forever. I used to play this in high school but couldn't even bother to make it past the second stage. Every time I told myself I could if I wanted but nah. Anyways, beat it this morning on the subway. It's still pretty fucking hard, but now that I'm playing on a bigger screen without motion blur it's more reasonable. There's never been a lot to say about this game, it's very bare bones, no frills, but it's a shmup on the Game Boy and serves that purpose. I can't remember if there are any other shmups on the Game Boy? The underwater and last level in Super Mario Land come to mind.

There are six levels but the hardest boss by far is the fourth level boss, look how little room they give you to navigate, the fuck:

Anyways, always nice to revisit a game you never beat when you were a kid and finally bring closure to it.

There are probably a few more, but those two immediately come to mind. And R-Type got a GBC update called R-Type DX.

Edit: not sure if the image host is blocked by China, it's the game boxes of Nemesis by Konami and R-Type.

Wait a second. This is Stokerverse thing an actual GBC cart coming out in 2026?

Is it playable on Switch? I'd get a digital version of it.
