Fucking idiot at Kinko's wouldn't make me a marquee

So, I went into Kinko's tonight to have myself made a Simpsons marquee and control panel that I downloaded. He said "I can't do that unless you have permission from Matt Groening". WTF? I mean, WTF? Do I just go back when that dork making $6 an hour isn't working and try again or what?

I just placed an order with Mame marquees online. The quality, I'm sure, will be better anyhow. That idiot at Kinkos didn't know shit about his own paper. How long did he work there for, before I got there? 10 minutes? Jesus.

I used to work there. Believe it or not- they aren't allowed to copy anything with 'copyrighted' images on it. Yes, I saw many arguments, and a couple of screaming matches result from this.

Since you've got the PCB are you planning to build or convert a cabinet into a Simpsons? Sucks about the guy at Kinko's not printing the cpo and marquee for you. On a semi-related note, I'm planning to go to Kinko's to get Randy Fromm's "Big Blue Book" of arcade tech information printed out. For anyone that doesn't know, Randy Fromm is a guy that teaches people how to repair arcade games during a week long class held at different places across the country. He also has books and dvds you can buy as well as an online technical page you can subscribe too. It costs 40 to get access to his online stuff, but you can get full pdf files of his Big Blue Book and podcasts of the DVDs.

This more or less accounts for ALL mainstream printing stores, not just kinkos so don't feel that discouraged. I used to say good things about staples, but I went last year to have a mini marquee printed and they replied the same thing. At least you found a good place to go to.

Take it from me as a clerk who worked at gas stations for 2.5 years. I only ever took the IDs that the state of MO said were acceptable for the purchase of alcohol. Other clerks might have been more lax, or not ID'ed at all - but in the end it was their ass out on the line possibly going to get busted - not mine. Yeah my example is a little different, but in principle it's the same thing.

He is just trying to keep his shitty $6.00/hour job. Maybe he is trying to put himself through college? maybe he really needs this job? Hard to say.

He isn't doing it to be a prick.

Just go to kinkos when he isnt there.

Don't these places have PC's where you can do the printing yourself?

That absolves them from any liability.

Yeah, I had the same experience happen to me last year. It sucked. I wanted some KOF pictures printed and he said, "You need express written permission from CAPCOM to print these." It was about as lame as it could get.


Really though, all you have to do is tell them you go to art school and these are your art projects. Make sure to mention how hard you worked on them.
