Yeah I've been watching and I can't seem to catch a break on one of the cheaper ones. I actually bid on that one that you said you won, JustinS. I try to stay away from eBay because you can usually get a better deal and more trustworthy transaction from the forums. But, any seller is allowed to set whatever price they want, so I try not to belittle them and just move on. :)

PM Sent Beigemore,

Sellers can ask what ever they want here but that doesn't mean there going to get it, or that your asking Market/Fair Value just cause you isolate your appraisal to ebay sales. Its almost an apples to oranges comparison, when you compare Forum sales threads to Ebay once you factor in the fees.
Is any one here going to buy a Twinklestar Sprites MVS kart (not even a kit) for $397.97 even though you can prove it sold on ebay for that price, or close to that price at one time or another??

If you want Ebay prices great! List there. Listing Ebay prices here is usually only going to get a good laugh, and yes a few challenges. Not to mention that most of the examples that were given were from sellers that had to relist multiple times to get their High Price. And since its not my first day as a member here, High Prices usually do get challenged, its not about belittling anybody.

Does the car sales man asking $3500 over MSRP get challenged.
Yeah its part of negotiations. Are you belittling him cause you can prove that the price is high? Garsh, its better if you dont take it personal since thats how it works.

Anyway, I wasnt low balling and I felt it was important to prove it to the seller.
Prove it to the other buyers. Geesh guys 2x market value in 6 months is going to get some challenges.

I think this poor dude is gonna need to make a new sales thread....

Anyway, so judging that prices are too high because they are "ebay prices" is the same as trying to devalue an item because of ebay prices. I just picked up a complete NAOMI GD-ROM kit for under $400 with some games - does that mean I'm at liberty to tell anyone selling NAOMI items that their gouging? Probably not.

I just sold my KI2 midway cab with a WG25K7400 for $150. Does that mean I can tell anyone selling a chassis that the chassis should be free? Hell no.

I gave away a 5 series BMW. Does that mean the company should go out of business?

Should I expect all MK1 boards to go for $160 and start a website solely to selling only MK1 for $160?

I don't know this seller from sand, but I do know JustinS is a cool guy to deal with. I don't necessarily agree with what we've done to this guy's sales thread and I stick to my statement that I've seen shitshape UMK3 starting for $140. I've been trying to pick up another UMK3 board on-and-off for about 2 years - those prices are "usual" when I see UMK3 on KLOV and Ebay.

Ok I think it's about time to close up this thread.

Look, I pulled this game out of storage, searched completed auctions on eBay to get a price, which is somewhere in the range of $160-180 plus shipping.

I offered $180 inc shipping, then lowered it to $160, which for most people equates to $140 or $145 plus shipping, from a member who's been on the forums for 10 years, and eBay feedback near 600.

Rule 6.7 on these market forums talks about poisoning threads. I don't think this forum is heavily moderated, but this thread should have been cleaned up back to my original post, especially since the info presented is false (there isn't a single pcb with marquee and manual in completed eBay auctions for $180 or less, barring the auction that just ended (after the comment was made))

And we can all agree that you can get deals in auctions. That's how auctions work.

Yes. You'd make a killing :)

And Webmiester, you are definitely right on that. The vast majority of the price talk here has been several months or years old.

Well I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in aswell. I got my UMK3 board locally here at an arcade dealer for $100 with a marquee and jamma harness wiring and switches. And I was offered the whole cab (with monitor that needs fixing) for $50 more. However that being said I think I got that game at a STEAL. I think the $160 shipped price is around if not less then I'd be wanting to sell mine for. But..... I'm not going to sell mine. Just figured I'd give my opinion.

Your cherry picking man.
Just use my ebay purchase as an example.
You werent going back very far to come to your conclusion. And you
were out right ignoring other sales here in the Neo Forums.

How can you argue when I proved you were wrong about it
just a few hours later with my purchase on ebay??

My ebay purchase that included a Marquee and Booklet. While yours only had the PCB.
Oh, and members like Acem77 selling his this July for $120.00

Here it is again....

Unfortunately selling on the forum doesn't require you give deals to other members. A lot of sellers do, but it's not mandatory. If he wants to charge top dollar, he can. There's a good chance he'll get it too. Between a guarantee that the board's in top shape, his willingness to burn different revisions to the board for the buyer, and knowing you have the entire board backing you up if a seller tries to screw you over, some people may find the extra worth their while.

On a separate note: what's this about MK characters in NBA Jam, Web?

Yep should be sweet, I'm burning the ROMs now. Turns out it's not just a downgrade to version 1.0, it's actually an upgrade to 1.0 TE from a regular NBA Jam!
