FS- Extremely rare prototype licensed NEC/Turbografx Jamma arcade unit w/games & marquees.
Okay guys. Well my other sale thread hasn't garnered much interest so it is with major hesitation that I am listing this up for sale. This is a extremely rare item that will likely never be seen again in this condition and with the extras I am including. I hate to throw the word "prototype" around so freely, but this unit is indeed just that.
This is a licensed NEC/TurboGrafx/PC-engine arcade Jamma unit produced by United Amusments. These prototype units were made in extremely limited numbers as NEC pulled funding on them before mass production. I am going to list as much information that I am aware of in this thread however there is very limited info out there about it. Keep in mind since there is such limited information out there about this rare and unique piece of hardware, naturally we are only left with speculation in some cases.
In my searching, there has only been 2 other units accounted for, 1 of them I believe is owned by D-Lite. Not to say there isn't more, but just they have not been accounted for. The unit I have is NOS and in the original shipping box, as are a few of the games. The unit consists of a custom PCB/console and a jamma interface board. Also features S-video out. Coming off of the Jamma edge is a harness that was designed to be plugged into a cabinet designed to hold this unit. The harness leads are fitted with standard JST (or AMP) connectors.
In my searching online I only read mention of one blazing lazers marquee having ever surfaced but I never saw any actual pictures of it. I have 2 (NOS) marquees and it is obvious from the looks of them that they are prototype marquees that were made as "proof of concept". In addition, I believe when the unit was first produced they intended on making custom Hu cards for it, but perhaps maybe later abandoned that idea as NEC produced Hu cards worked fine. I have seen no examples of United Amusements cards, ever... outside of the one that I own. It is a licensed NEC PCB and has two EPROMS with handwritten labels on them. The PCB itself is also twice as long as normal Hu cards. It would stand to reason that this one that I have is clearly a prototype that was never shuttled off to full production. It is clearly not a hack job or a boot as the serial number on the card and the motherboard all have the same naming convention and are in similar suit.
I am including in this sale;
-x1 NOS boxed NEC arcade unit with all connectors
-x1 NOS boxed Keith Courage (custom/prototype PCB) with NOS marquee
-x1 Pacland standard Hucard WITH arcade cabinet marquee (this proves that while this is a standard card, it was sold by United Amusements with the intention of being used in the arcade unit)
-x1 Alien Crush standard Hucard with arcade "how to play" placard. Same as above.... proof this was sold for the arcade unit and not as a home card
-x1 Ninja Warriors standard Hucard
-x1 Victory Run standardd Hucard
-x1 Plexiglass control panel overlay (used)
This is an incredibly rare set-up and something that is impossible to put a price on. Interested parties feel free to PM me and we can discuss.
