In wma format. The source sounds in mono at 22050khz so the wma's sound with 48kbps as good as using 192.

Reason 1 (784kb) <-- Awesome

Reason 2 (818kb) <-- Kicks some serious ass

Reason 3 (61kb) <-- classic

Reason 4 (621kb) <-- perfect for a boss encounter

Of course the CD with the ost in high quality (because snkp MUST make it) is my next item in the list

UPDATE: 5 more songs

Reason 5 (633kb) <-- Wild West

Reason 6 (721kb) <-- First Mission

Reason 7 (700kb) <-- Cool voices

Reason 8 (187kb) >-- How to kick ass/play

Reason 9 (56kb) <-- Mission Complete

Wow, nice tracks, I might consider picking this up on release seeing as how music is like 50% of a game to me.

Edit: Reason 2 is the most badass song i've heard in a game in a LONG time!

oh my god that sounds fucking brilliant!, and this is coming of a MVS?, it sounds to good, the guitars sound well like guitars, if only they redid the music on the KOFS with this!

OMFG, this is arguably some of the best music I've ever heard in a video game! I will definetly own an AES copy of this game. Keep up the buttrock:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

To the audio experts out there:

Do you suppose Noise Factory and other videogame music studios ever utilize real guitars and distortion amps for stuff like this or keep their work totally keyboard sampled? I ask because as some of you may have noticed, Noise Factory stuff (along with Pulstar, Blazing Star)'s BGM's are all in mono, which may suggest the music tracks are one long PWM/WAV type of file.

I remember a great V-schmup back in what, 1987 called Twin Eagle where the music was all hard rock, with some lyrics in the boss tunes however the mono tracks looped like any other wav file would. I see a commonality here. Just an observation :)

Come on guys. This is Noise Factory's Studio Aqua here. Did you expect anything else? I told you the music was going to kick much butt. Just that it will be in Mono. That was a given the moment screenshots of the credits were posted. Of course, my post stating such stuff is probably lost a good 10 pages in from now.

But basically, you see Studio Aqua in the credits, its a shoe in that they can represent. As for what kind of instruments they use, they use whatever they feel they can get away with. Sometimes the guitars are authentic, if they feel it is needed. They are generally a style-oriented studio, where they have a tendancy to imitate styles with an amazing level of detail while writing their own stuff within the chosen genre. My kind of people. :) However, for stuff like the 2nd song, they could've used a sampled guitar keyboard triggered if they wanted to. Mainily since there isn't a lot of variation as to how the guitar is played in that song. The advantage of having no sample limitations in a studio as opposed to having a scant space to fit guitar samples in the MVS cart.

Though if some large convincing guitar solo is in there, you bet that they will rip out something authentic. But to cut a long story short. Studio Aqua typically sets things up this way. If there are three instruments that would be authentic with them, it is voice, guitar, and possibly drums. Outside of that, everything else is keyboard. Especially the strings, horns, and other auxillary instruments. All keyboard (or more so, tone generator boxes).

Thoes are some of the best tracks ive heard in the whole Metal slug series, from MS4 they almost had the right idea.. but the music was so bland and dull.. MS5's music sounds amazingly vivid and seems like it will draw the player deeper into the game. Glad to hear they pulled off voices in the track too.

These are definitely some of the best tracks I have heard in a long time, Noise Factory's composers keep amazing me more and more. Please, for the love of God... give us an OST CD, otherwise I will go insane. I don't buy many video game CD's (last one was Matrimelee in fact :)), but this is one I will pickup for sure! :buttrock:

Oh man, that is some really good stuff! Reminds me of some old-school Turbo Duo stuff (Gates of Thunder, Lords of Thunder and others) that really rox! This stuff is pretty rare nowadays considering that the hair metal and eurotrash rock just isn't around anymore.
