How shit?
So shit, that like you earlier in the thread...I'm looking for something different.
Screen tearing, borked sound efx...just hella distracting.
How shit?
So, after playing around with the Pandora's Box 3 for a couple of weeks, I have to say the biggest drawback is the sound. It's not as evident with certain games using low-ish volume but once you crank it up to a good level...it's all scratchy and crackling. This is with just about every game I've tried. Quite a few are unplayable....I couldn't even make it through the intro on some games before having to jump back to the main menu. I honestly can't say that any game has great sound. I haven't played any of the older 80's stuff because, to be honest, I couldn't care less if those work or not.
In summary, if I didn't have kids I probably would have ditched it already. At the very least though, it's opened my eyes to a lot of really good games that I've never played before.
How's the sound on UN Squadron/ carrier air wing?
I've got a pandoras box I could part with - I never even plugged it in, decided to go down a different route. Let me know if you're interested, especially after Pipes glowing review.
Make sure it's the Pandora 3, the others don't run so hot. As for the drawbacks of the Pandora 3; Well, in all seriousness this thing does a very decent job for what it is. Under 100 bucks and with Xian Xi's adapter you're all set. This by no means should be considered a replacement to your PCBs but it sure rocks for some fundo. I'm happy with it, the people that whine I feel bad for them, it's too bad they can't enjoy the damn thing, maybe as the tech in these things progresses it will get better and better, for now, I'm pretty stocked with this thing.
I've got a "Game Elf 485 In 1 Jamma Multi Game PCB" that I bought back on Dec. 26 2013. It originally cost $78.00 plus shipping on AliExpress back then. I never really had a problem with the Game Elf and quite enjoyed it in a supergun set-up before I started buying actual PCBs for my cab. The only games it's really terrible emulating are the Sega System 18 games like Moonwalker, as it just mangles the music.
$55 shipped?

How's the sound on UN Squadron/ carrier air wing?
I see you bought a game elf but I'll answer this anyway. On the PB3, both games play really well actually. The sound is probably not as crisp as the original but no glaring issues. Slight screen tearing but nothing that seriously detracts from the gameplay. Overall, the PB3 does a good job on both. No idea what you're going to get with the Elf though. From what I gather, it is inferior to the PB3 but for $55 or whatever, it's hard to argue.
