I doubt Microsoft did this to appease consumers. I bet the publishers were not happy dealing with 2 different ways of publishing games, so they would likely go with the (early) winner of PS4, which would leave Xbone in the dust without 3rd party support. That's a more likely scenario.

I might get one down the line when it drops prices a couple of times. I still don't like the Kinect requirement and wary of MS' policies change.

I was thinking more along the lines of they couldn't get the details hashed out with GameStop on the fees for being able to take in used games and I'm sure the sharing with up to 10 people was a licensing nightmare too. So rather than force an idea that wasn't popular, they just caved.

It's funny, I had said to friends that they were going to do a day one update to pull the phone home and DRM parts. They came out with the announcement yesterday and I instantly thought about joining the psychic friends network.
