It's pretty clear to me that, at least partly, what Microsoft is trying to do is steal the Nintendo Wii's customer base by offering them a console that has all of the thing faddists might want out of an all encompassing entertainment package:
-party games meant to be played in the living room
-TV
-Sports
-Water Cooler
Oh, and Call of Duty to get that dudebro money.
They're going to be marketing this aggressively to the same type of people that bought into the Wii.
At the same time, as i said, they're going to lean heavily on the dudebro franchises to establish its identity to that crowd, so they can confidently buy into the next generation of Xbox console and continue their brown military FPS shooter odyssey.
I'm sort of okay with that. If Microsoft decides they never want me as a customer and don't eventually start making games I want to play on it, I'm perfectly content with PS3, PS4, Wii U (which I believe can still rebound) and PC.
I have so many backlogged games on current and previous gen systems that I could probably play for years and never have to buy a new game.
