First mamecab build log(Gutted Sega/Gremlin Carnival cab destined for trash bin)

Welp, I picked up this cab last year for free, it was missing a monitor, and was in bad disrepair. The coin door was missing and various parts were gone. Funny enough, the gameboard was still intact, but a wiring nightmare. I spent a week figuring out the wiring, a year trying to source an original working 1980/81 WG k4600 vert monitor with zero luck.

Realizing I'd never be able to find side art repro for this cab, that i don't really enjoy the game, that the roms on the board were shot, and that their was acid damage to the board, I decided on something different.

Two days ago i started peeling back the sideart, and found i could expose the base side mdf fairly easy.

Last night i put together some left over old pc parts from an old client i re-did his computers and took the old POS dells. I booted up windows tiny XP in my basement open without a case just to test out the system.

Also today I found a small 4:3 Dell monitor and de-cased it and mounted it in the cab. It looks small but it will do the trick. I haven't decided whether or not to make it a vertical mame machine or a horizontal.

Today i worked on installing the pc inside the machine. Here's where I am at.

Now the pc won't turn on... Damn.

IF only you posted this a year or so ago.

I had the same gremlin, it was my "first" mame project.. and I had all the parts you needed.. including the monitor.

All gone now.

aw sheeeeit. I cannot regret making this move, as much as i do gutting any bit of a good arcade machine to throw mame in there. call me old school, but i remember some 10 years ago, this wouldn't fly here. Times are different now, and good original stuff is getting rarer and rarer everyday. I think this cab is fucked as is, and maybe i can get someone the carnival parts they need for an original machine that's missing just a few parts.
Either way, this game (carnival) was a pretty shitty game from what ive read. Although, apparently it was the first game to offer a "bonus" round. Kinda cool i guess. No joysticks on this game either.

Anyways, I just got the pc booted up after spending 35 minutes ruining the shitty dell bios. I had to do a cmos reset, pull the cr3032 battery, reset the whole thing, keep trying like 30 times, and the POS DELL hardware finally "post"'d

getting ready to roll my first time:

This is the stuff I bought. I hope this is the right type of primer to use, the homedepot paint specialist insisted for MDF to use this primer and go with this semi-gloss black.

Preprep pimer filler, and bondo applied and sanded:

Don't ask me how I got this thing on the saw horses by myself, i couldn't tell you.

Don't ask me how i am going to get it down by myself either...

OK i hope this is correct, i am going to go for the primer roller, with a 9" roller. Hope it all goes well.
