Does anyone here really like spending the cash on 5.7 ammo? I took my Walther WMP in 22wmr and compared it to firing my buddy's Ruger 5.7. I don't see any benefit of plinking with the 5.7 at close range when the same experience can be had with 22wmr.

Aside from that, going to see how my JCOMP2 Compensator/Muzzle Brake works on my MCX Regulator and Ruger American Ranch.

5.7 is only cool in the P90.

I honestly would buy a 338 Luna instead. $5000
A LGS has a Barrett for sale with around 200 rounds of non-armor piercing. The guy can't really sell it unless someone comes it to buy it as a collector or a die hard of the caliber comes in.

I too would prefer the .338. Recently, I've been doing long distance shooting with 5.56 and .308. The problem is finding a range or a place that'll allow you to shoot past 300 yards+. Most ranges here are 100 to 125 yards. Even at that, a lot of people can't shoot with every bell and whistle attached to their rifle.

With regards to being a Fudd, I think I'm getting there. A range day for me usually starts early when they open. The shop has a desk/bench for you to work on your stuff, clean and whatnot prior to and after you shoot. Sometimes I bring rifles in there and listen to music while cleaning before some of my friends show up to shoot. I've been trying to get the staff to start grilling stuff outside for lunch since they never use their grills since Covid. We run into a lot of younger shooters (21 - 25 year olds) that spend way too much on a build that seems more like a shelf queen rather than something you use.

Everytime I go to the range there's usually someone with some fully kitted out AR style rifle (straight pull because we gay), light, muzzle break, pretty much every mlok accessory known to man and I keep thinking, why? so you can pretend to be rambo? My trusty ole bolt action works just fine without all that noise.

It would appear the 3rd Trump shooter shopped at the same store I purchased all my firearms from.........wonder what new unconstitutional laws they will pass now in response................only thing left on the table for democrats to do is use law enforcement to forcefully take your firearms at gunpoint.

My only local range isn't the largest, and only offers a 25/50/100 yd portion. Give or take, just about any time you go to the 25yd, there's guys there with ARs, many of which are pistols. Goddamn things are seriously loud. I feel the range sightings used to be more diverse, with interesting firearms pretty much any time I went. Now, it's just a bunch of ARs. Hell, you don't even see the occasional combloc firearm, like a SKS, or AK, anymore.

I'm now definitely a Fudd. I really enjoy taking my 44 mag Super Redhawk for a bench 25 or 50 yd session, my 45-70 CVA Scout for a 50/100 yd session, or my 627 Pro for shooting light 38 specials at steel targets.

On occasion I'll run 357 magnum through the Python at 25 yds (honestly, really enjoyable), or shoot paper with the Ronin 10mm...although that one gets old, quick. On very rare occasion, I get a wild hair up my ass, and run the 460 S&W at 50 yds.

Either way, those are all Fudd guns, that's for sure.

My days of range blasting cheap 9mm, or Silver Bear 223, are over. Shit is just too $$ to run 250+ rounds in a single session (even with reloading). On top of that, while reliable, my 9mm pistols, or ARs really aren't that much "fun" to shoot, truth be told.

I don't get the hype with AR pistols. Not a fan at all.

Our local outdoor range offers up to 125 yards and has a pistol/rifle range on one side of the road, shotgun and skeet across the street. Performance shooting training is on a separate field on the property.

Recently, I've been just having fun with my Ruger American Ranch Gen 2 and Sig MCX Regulator (both in 5.56). Threw in a cheap LPVO on both. They keep zero and didn't break the bank. Both take AR style magazines, so it makes it pretty well rounded.

What kills me about this state is that I can't have a flash hider, but I can use a muzzle brake that'll make it louder and shoot flatter. Silencers are an option here as well.

You can use Silencers and "Loudeners", but you can't make the blast visually toned down. So odd.

Do you ever take that .460 out of the vault

Yeah, on occasion. Every now and again, I get the itch for it. I initially wanted to bench shoot 100 yds with it, and while I can do that, the "flinch factor" with it is strong. Shooting some full power 240g rounds, about all I can muster is 20 rounds, before I start flinching so badly, it's pointless. Mostly, it's the noise -vs- the recoil. I mean, don't get me wrong, the recoil is there...but that muzzle blast is deafening. 2000 fps on a 240g projectile, and a short barrel = insanely loud.

I do like it, though...it's just not an everyday shooter, like some other firearms.

AR “pistols” which are really SBRs are great.
Here in CT, anything 12 inch barrel AR or lower with a pistol brace is considered an AR pistol. They are also exempt from requiring a tax stamp. SBRs here are for those with anything greater than a 12 inch barrel and require a tax stamp.

It's pretty dumb here. The laws here in this state contradict quite a bit.
