The Mini-14 (Tactical) has been getting some range time after adding the YHM QD Muzzle Brake. Aside from that, I've been having fun with the Walther WMP in 22wmr. Some time this month or next, I'm going to a live fire exhibit to check out the new SONICORE suppressors and their performance.

Since I don't want to deal with a fixed magazine solution, it's been mostly a ranch rifle or Ruger Mini-14 trip to the range. I'm not bothering with a Kali Key or a Juggernaut Pin Switch solution to bypass.

I'm not sure how some people can deal with a 5.56/.223 with a fixed magazine. Saw several people use an adaptor to load up their AR through the ejector port, just to have it jam up on them.

I used to think the Mini-14 was cool until I got an AR.
I used the M4/M16 back in the military and currently have a Juggernaut Tactical JT-15 build as well. The one thing I like about the Mini-14 is that it operates like an M1 but looks like an M14. I prefer the gas piston system over Direct Impingement. The same goes for my Sig MCX.

What I like about the Mini-14 is that it's fairly simple. I see these extravagant AR builds with a ton of tacticool add ons that don't help the shooter. I swear they go to the range like a kid with a tricked out car at a local parking lot.

Ruger would be able to print money if they made a Mini-14 fully compatible with STANAG .223/5.56 magazines. To me, that's the only gripe I have. Third party magazines are hit or miss and you generally need to go with the Ruger proprietary magazines for the Mini-14/Mini-30.

The thing with AR platforms is that you need to piecemeal a setup or spend more to get a quality build comparable to decent quality. My biggest pet peeve with the cheap AR out there are the horrendous machining of parts, particularly with the handguards and BCG. I had to fix and buffer a Bear Creek BCG because they wouldn't acknowledge that their BCG was full of imperfections that messed up the traditional action. I got rid of my ARs and kept the JT-15 as my only AR.

To me, the Mini setup is just fun to shoot as is. It sends brass flying into the next county and I sing the A-Team song in my head while I fire it.

FOUND THE A-TEAM FAN! :kekeke:
My problem with the mini is cost vs what you get.
Same money gets you right in BCM territory.
I like my ARX100 more than my AR but ultimate cost evaluation keep me with the AR.

I am not asking for much. ...just a civilian model of the HK MP-7 and G-36. It could happen.

My Sig M400 Snakebite SE AR-15 for $1400 3000 rounds in continues to work great!
