Fightstick DB15

I am interested in modding a Madcatz Fightstick by adding the Neo Geo DB15 standard. I would also like to retain the ability to use it on the original system.

To do this, is it necessary to add diodes between the DB15 connector and the buttons, to keep strange things from happening with the USB board?

It depends on the logic of the stick. If it has a common ground then it would be no problem.

So if it uses common ground then I can just add an extra set of wire from the DB15 to each button and a wire to the ground on the DB15 without worrying about diodes?

All of the madcatz fightsticks are common ground, I have modded a lot of them.
