Gameplay wise I'm going to have take RBFF everytime... RBFF Special is where it's at though... and the soundtrack on NGCD is awesome.

You got a way with words. This thread was worth something after all, cheers lach. I still stubbornly have to give it to FF3 in spite of - or because of - the reasons you give.
I'm slowly rediscovering my voice. Been a long four years, three of them away from this place. Edge must be sharpened.

I always felt like FF3 was the black sheep of the series. It’s not a bad game by any means, just much different from the rest of the games. The map screen and character art in between rounds are both good, I like combo system in RBFF better tho.

On a side note, this thread delivers:keke:

Presentation: FF3 wins. Everything Else: RBFF

AoF3 is possibly one of the bravest arcade games ever made.
Elaborate on that.

I'll see if this resonates with @LoneSage sentiment. AOF3 a 2D game that's forced to play like a 3D fighter because SNK couldn't get it to play like a 2D due to using mocap animation - and it's actually playable...and dare I say fun. While not the best playing fighting game on the Neo (although I quite like it), I firmly believe it's the best looking game on the hardware.

My review on here is super outdated - did a huge update on the overview of this game when I translated the April 1996 NGF spread for the game a couple years back over on my website. Here's a snip from the translated segment.

I appreciate this response. As always it's thoughtful and informative. My "elaborate on that" post was just me trying to get Sage to say "lol no", but instead he has ignored me (or hasn't seen it). #sadlyfe :keke:

That said, AoF3 is hands down one of my favorite games on da Neo. One of the first MVS carts I owned back in the day too. I haven't played it in years but I was always blown away by the effort SNK put into the animation. It will likely be the next homecart I get around to buying.

RBS is where it’s at. That has a nice mix of classic FF gameplay with excellent presentation. It hits all the notes. RB2 plays a lot better but it’s such a stripped down game presentation wise it feels unfinished.

I’m not big on retro compilations but I hope SNK does a nice FF collection at some point. I was half expecting them to with COTW coming out like they did for Sam Sho.
