The money I've been spending on the Neo Geo has gotten me apprehensive about even playing the games. But I'm not going to have them sit there so this is how I play with mine: I first take the system out of the box. I start out with the controller, carefully taking it out of the styrofoam. I then gently take out the memory card, ac adaptor, and av cables, and then the system that's been resting in the plastic bag covered with the styrofoam plate. I then begin to plug everything up trying to avoid putting stress on any parts. That was the easy part. The hard part is getting the games. I take the games, one at a time, holding them by the opening of the snap case (so that I don't put indentations on the insert). I carefully open the case in such a way as to not damage the locking mechanism. Then I delicately pick up the instruction manual that's in the plastic baggy and place it on a safe and level surface. I then proceed with the cart holding it on both sides with one finger. I gently ease the cart onto the connectors, never forcing it and always aligning it with the slot as to prevent scratches. Then I plug away and play woohooooo. But I'm always afraid of causing a scratch or making a dent. So I'm wondering what's the easiest yet safest way you guys go about playing this AWESOME system. I'm also curious to see how many fellow OCD members are out there

that's crazy to follow those steps.
Well, I do wash my hand before playing any video game. Don't want oil to be on my lovely system, joystick/controller and CD/cartridge. Still very careful handling everything but not that "careful".......you know what I'm saying.

LOL! I guess I'm doing it all wrong. I don't take many precuations myself. I don't throw them around or use 'em as coasters or anything. I also do not lend them out. That would definitely spell death. Basically, keep the carts stored neatly on the shelf and just pop open the case and and jam it in the cart slot to play. I leave a memory card plugged in at all times. I have the system out of the box and ready to play at all times. I do have a minty setup that stays in the box though. :-)

Baku, no offense, but that's just crazy. That means that you probably only play your Neo like, once a week. Then again, that's about as often as i play mine, since i can only play KOF when i'm totally relaxed (Friday) and i get SO pissed when i don't finish the game using only 1 kredit and getting the Kula ending. My Neo is stored away in a folding door cabinet, with a monitor on top of it on a shelf. another shelf above that monitor is the cart shelf. I recently made a switchbox, and i have to put it on the same slide-out shelf that the Neo is on, which causes some problems. I can't really store my sticks away, since the stupid switchbox gets in the way.

As for my Neo, i generally am nice to it, cept for when i SMASH that reset button to try again at KOF. DAMN that gets me mad. Also, my stick has a huge crack in it because i smashed it. Not a good thing, but i can't control my KOF rage.

Fortunately, i have also made my own big ass extremely sturdy joystick with real arcade parts, so i can bang on that bastard as hard as i can and it won't break. (particle board ) Oh well. I think i keep my stuff in good condition. The only OCDish type thing i'd do to my Neo would be brushing it with this special AWESOME dust brush with stiff and soft plastic bristles. SO useful! i cleaned my Neo, my Saturn and my Genesis with it, and it works beautifully.

Neo & Saturn rule. As for Genesis/Megadrive... well...

It's good to see fellow OCD out there Tiptonium, I have to give warning to one of your practices. Keeping in the Memory Card plugged in All The Time is bad for it, I think. I read that it has a 5 year battery life which can be quickly depleted if the battery's kept in when not in use. Just giving you some advice. Personally, I always store the memory card in the plastic sheath, and then in the paper folder and next in the box when I'm done playing for the day. I did forget and leave it in one night and felt terrible the next day

NeoGML, I play the Neo Geo as much as I can. It's #1 priority machine for me, then Dreamcast, Playstation, Saturn and N64. But the order may change if I'm trying to beat a particular game, like RPG's Those are my Neo Geo slayers. But I always put in some quality time with my Neo.

Aiiieeee!!!! ... ripping card from unit as I type this ... I was more concerned about the wear and tear of constantly inserting and removing the memory card. I did not know that it sayed active with the unit off.

At least I've got three cards now. Two are minty fresh. Do these thing discharge even if not used and in their original packaging?

uhhh, it is only a toy. I feel that games are ment to be played. So I don't really care about actually playing the games as long as whoever is using them takes good care of them I'm cool with it.

well I guess I am the opposite

my Neo sites on my Coffe table 24x7. my carts are in a rack across from it. And I tend to swap them out often I have memory cards pluged into my mvs and home system 24 x 7 and my early manuals I covered with clear shelf paper so when I spilled stuff on them they would not get ruined....

Hmmmm,
well my neos are pretty worn anyway after several mod jobs and years of play....But then again I do not pay crazy money for neo games either. I just picked up complete titles when they came out. have not spent over $350 on any one title. I'm the Oscar to your Felix

I guess maybe if I spent mad cash on any one game I would just play the MVS version on the convertor and leave it in a box. But then again I do not consider my Neo and investment and never will.
