I was talking to my mother on the phone today, and she informed me one of my childhood friends died.

I can remember played NES with this kid back in the 80's...

My Friend J.P. Boyle, (a firefighter) was working in his garage, and an engine fell on his face and crushed his skull.

I feel so sorry for his family,

my mother went to his funeral today. My mom said it was the biggest funeral she'd been to, 1000 people were there, and the local fire department gave him a firemans farewell, with american flag, marching and bagpipes.

Hey man, my condolances go out to you. It's never the right time to lose someone close to you, especially someone you grew up with. Just make sure to keep those happy NES memories close to heart, and think of the good times. It was a terrible and unfortunate accident to have to go that way, but it's nice to hear he had so much support from his family and the community once he passed way.

...sorry to hear about your loss man. I know what it's like to lose a life long friend to an accident. It's hard on you, won't tell you time will make it better, but for now just don't do anything rash, take a breather and further appreciate just how precious life really is, even when it does seem like a lifeless ordinary 90% of the time. My condolences.

Wow, sorry to hear that.

I too have never lost a dear old friend... and if I ever did... it would definitely make me look at life differently. Yet here they are, and I go about my same ways.... =

I lost a friend back in 2000 on one of the worst days possible being April 1. I thought it was some kind of sick joke that my friend Scotty said. Unfortunately, it was true. My friend Trevor committed suicide and was only just about to turn 16. I figure this thread is a good thread to remember him and maybe both your childhood friend and Trevor are happily playing the NES together in the heavens. :)
