:back:

I am trying to think of a really relatable human character, but no one is coming to mind.

I like lots of anthropomorphic ones: Tako from Parodius and the PC Engine from Star Parodia come to mind right away.

edit: I love the design of Rikuo from Darkstalkers and the not too dissimilar Sidon from Zelda. Maybe there is something to the astrology bullshit, since I am a water sign.

edit2: Bub and Bob are Yoshi-like and Yoshi-liked.

But the real coolest character of all time is Bates from Clock Tower II:

Its like he's self aware about being in a crap game, he ain't having none of that shit. The only reason to think of playing this game (don't)

That's not just any old Pac Man ghost, it's my man Clyde.

For a game from 1980, this character was as fleshed-out and quirky as it could be, he and the other ghosts did not just home in on you but had their own thing going and Clyde defo is #1 in this regard. Not really aggressive by nature, live and let live but can have a bad day as well, altogether masterfully conceived and coded. That's also where most of the console or home micro ports of Pac Man failed. Good stuff.

Yoshi's mentioning of Bub and Bob almost made me post the entire Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands cast. . . man, I just LOVE these Taito games (and New Zealand Story), all those little sprites, cakes, spiders, fruits, tools, toys, etc., so cool.

I guess the fact that I also love all that amazing stuff you can find/roll up in Katamari Damacy says something about meself but damned if I know. :D
