I thought I'd update this thread with what I've been playing and really dig. I have an AV Famicom and a Disk System, and I fucking love both. Been getting more play than my 4-slot, which is saying something.
Disk System
Ai Senshi Nicol - Awesome but hard. Kinda like Startropics
Doki Doki Panic - US SMB2 that makes sense
Super Mario Bros. 2 (J) - Fun and balls hard to beat without the 100-up cheat
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa - Awesome but weird
Famicom
Akumajou Densetsu - Better than CV3 in every way. A masterpiece.
Gradius II - Love it but the hit box is gigantic
Arkanoid II - Fun alternative from the original
Nuts N Milk - Cause when you're gonna have nuts, you gotta have milk
Star Wars (Namco) - Fun but annoying hit detection
Parodius Da! - Fun as shit
Kid Dracula - Also fun as shit
Bomberman 2 - Fun and way cheaper than the NES version
Ninja Jajamaru Ginga Daisakusen - Still getting used to the physics
Holy Diver - So fucking rad. Wish Dio was on the soundtrack
New Ghostbusters 2 - I love this game, but the 1-hit kill is a pain in the ass
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa
Nice goods!I have both the av famicom and the original famicom av modded. I'm hooked as well. Was going to buy a disk system but bought a EDN8 instead. I've bought some of my favorites in the last couple of months. Some eye candy.

this tops my list of fds stuff. what a tremendous title.

Nice goods!
Haven't picked up any new carts for sometime. I think I'll get Final Mission (S.C.A.T.) next since of course the NES version is getting pretty expensive.
It's titled Gryzor.
It's still called Contra
European arcade version is Gryzor and so are the home computer ports. Home version in europe is Probotector.
Contra on the famicom isn't called gryzor.
My reply was based on what I played of the fan translated rom, in which the title screen had the name "Gryzor" in it. I googled it and turns out you guys were right. I stand corrected.
Contra on the famicom isn't called gryzor.
How about Probotector.
To bad the japanese version of gimmick cost a fortune now...Gimmick
