I thought I'd update this thread with what I've been playing and really dig. I have an AV Famicom and a Disk System, and I fucking love both. Been getting more play than my 4-slot, which is saying something.

Disk System
Ai Senshi Nicol - Awesome but hard. Kinda like Startropics
Doki Doki Panic - US SMB2 that makes sense
Super Mario Bros. 2 (J) - Fun and balls hard to beat without the 100-up cheat
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa - Awesome but weird

Famicom
Akumajou Densetsu - Better than CV3 in every way. A masterpiece.
Gradius II - Love it but the hit box is gigantic
Arkanoid II - Fun alternative from the original
Nuts N Milk - Cause when you're gonna have nuts, you gotta have milk
Star Wars (Namco) - Fun but annoying hit detection
Parodius Da! - Fun as shit
Kid Dracula - Also fun as shit
Bomberman 2 - Fun and way cheaper than the NES version
Ninja Jajamaru Ginga Daisakusen - Still getting used to the physics
Holy Diver - So fucking rad. Wish Dio was on the soundtrack
New Ghostbusters 2 - I love this game, but the 1-hit kill is a pain in the ass

Get Nazo no Murasame for your disk system. It's a Miyamoto game that crosses Zelda with Shinobi. It's awesome, and has a great soundtrack that really takes advantage of the FM chip.

That KISS game you're talking about is Seikima II. I just made a good Japan-only list the other day, I'll edit it in when I find it.

I really forgot about this thread given how old it is.I could say "little samson aka little lickle" as well since in price it's cheaper.

I have both the av famicom and the original famicom av modded. I'm hooked as well. Was going to buy a disk system but bought a EDN8 instead. I've bought some of my favorites in the last couple of months. Some eye candy.

Space Defending Force is a pretty decent shooter. It's not the greatest, but it does look nice.

Super Xevious is an odd little offshoot of the main game. Each stage has a sort of riddle built in that you need to solve in order to progress, such as shooting a specific number of targets, or taking a certain path through the level. Pretty decent.

Parodius is great if you like the Gradius series.

If you want a classic style shooter, the Famicom got a port of Galaxian the rest of us didn't. They also got the classic Mappy game too.

Pretty great system to collect for, no matter how you slice it.

Green Beret. It's got 2 player simultaneous play as well as a few underground areas, unlike Rush 'n Attack.

I am going to sub to this thread so I can have Famicom suggestions for when my Retron 5 (finally) comes in. I have no experience with FC and this would be great for further research later on

Nice goods!

Haven't picked up any new carts for sometime. I think I'll get Final Mission (S.C.A.T.) next since of course the NES version is getting pretty expensive.

this tops my list of fds stuff. what a tremendous title.

Yup. My Mom bought the Famicom cart of that game for me for $80 when I was a kid because the rental store owner said it was 'Baby Mario'. I never much cared for Mario Bros. (I really enjoyed MB2), so I thought the game was far and away better than MB. Eating your way through a cake, the level made of school supplies, the one made of megablocks, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa is definitely my favorite Famicom title! I'm just really glad that I kept it throughout the years :)

Thanks. Yea, I don't buy fami carts too often. I usually buy them in bulk from Japan to save on shipping. I'm still trying to get a Gryzor at a reasonable price (Under $30).

My reply was based on what I played of the fan translated rom, in which the title screen had the name "Gryzor" in it. I googled it and turns out you guys were right. I stand corrected.

My post was in reference to RAZO's, but right on.
