Is that real?
Mr. Big, heck yeah!
No surprises otherwise.

Not shocked by the season pass choices except for Ken. They should have picked a non-flowchart character other than Chunners. Joe’s design with the glasses is interesting though. Was hoping for Yamazaki.

There's always a Season 2 pass!

As for Chun-Li, her inclusion in the game is expected but if you play Street Fighter 6 and Mai's story, her final boss is E. Honda, who would have been a vastly more intriguing choice for the second SF character in this lineup.

When the inevitable season 2 comes, if they add more Capcom characters I fully expect Ryu. Guile would be another nice surprise. But it's unlikely we'll get any more crossover characters.

If I had to pick a Season 2 lineup, I'd go with:
  • Nightmare Geese
  • Yamazaki
  • Duck King
  • Kim Kaphwan
  • Big Bear
If any of these are already announced, then okay.

I fully expect Kim Jae Hoon to be included at some point. Same with Kain R. Heinlein, since Rock's story is directly tied with him.

An older Hokutomaru would be interesting.

I'd even welcome back an ancient Jubei Yamada. This character gets no love from SNK.

Woah, Mr. Big is for sure a surprise - never thought I'd see him pop up again after KOF 96.

I know an AOF game is in the works, but I don't think it's been 100% confirmed it's a fighting game, ya?

I could see SNK doing what Capcom did with Street Fighter and Final Fight - same universe, different genres for each series, and lots of cross over between them.

According to Gematsu's article, there is no indication that the new Art of Fighting game is going to be an action game. It sounds like they are going to be doing a retro style 70s atmosphere and feel.

The new Samurai Showdown game is set to be an action RPG, however.

That image is still unconfirmed right now.

BUT, assuming it's real, having Andy and Joe as DLC characters just feels wrong. And Joe having glasses is weird.

On the plus side, Andy's design looks freaking great, and having Mr. Big come back is awesome.

I'm honestly more excited for the Sam Sho ARPG than any other upcoming game of theirs.

SNK needs to call up KOEI and do a Musou SS game with them as well. That would be freaking sick.

I'm also more interested in a SamSho action RPG than an Art of Fighting revival, although both would be cool.

Just as AoF lends itself very well to a BMU, SamSho seems perfect for an action RPG. It has bosses, storylines and everything it needs to be a fine entry in that subgenre.

But hear me out.

Use the Warrior's Rage timeline, which has the best concept for any SamSho game of any of them. Bring in a lot of the other older versions of characters we know and love. Make them the mentors you have to go to in order to learn skills. And then make them unlockable and playable in some fashion. Or use the characters in their familiar versions and show how Ritenkyo is established.

Ritenkyo is such a cool idea. That lore is jus wasting away.

When you said 'action RPG' two things popped into my head. A Zelda-esque 'retro' style, and a From style game. While I'd enjoy either one I'd have to say a From styled Samurai Soulsdown would be pretty damn amazing. Something akin to Sekiro but with SamSho's lore.

Glasses Joe is lazy coding.
It’s just a Preecha skin swap, init?

No Rick S.

It’s like they are trolling at this point.
