Fatal Fury 2 "J-Style" Insert

lol, i just made that up "Jap Clone" - yeah i know im so original and shite. Anyhow, i was playing around with Fatal Fury 2 today using the Japanese insert art then I got to thinking about WHAT IF's........for me thats not good cuz i tend to go pretty off the beaten path (kinda how the Full Frontal lineup got started). I was just messing around and this is what has come out of it.

I think it'd be nice to just leave the meg count box off all together, move the screenshot down and it will make the spine look nice.

I do like it overall neats a bit of polishing of course.

Just saying it looks good so far, be really nice to see what a finished one would look like. Not to stop showing the WIP stuff.

EDIT: The second one looks better with the logo, IMO. I agree with lithy though on the meg count, it makes the spine look a little cluttered.

I like the wtf1 with no logo on the front and the image logo on the spine.

Ok check check direct it and lets begin:

WTF 1 uses the Graphic Logo on the spine and has a random screenshot for the spine. the "Real Battle Action Game" is actually on the front of the insert so when a shockbox is closed, your spine will only show the graphic logo, screenshot, megcount, etc. The fronts will now display the Battle Action deal on the left near the spine (a really whacky and new idea). also keeps the Neo Geo logo stripe thingy on the front.

WTF 2 uses a TITLE screenshot on the spine (for all games) and has TEXT ONLY spine title and GRAPHIC logo on the Fronts. Neo-Geo logo stripe thingy removed.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling the second more. But I kind of like the crazy amount of text on the spine (REAL BATTLE ACTION GAME FATAL FURY 2 is just fun to read,) and the logo on the front just fits well.

A cool idea for sure. I would go with the Jap style meg count icons as well as the icons that I think indicated genre that are on the newer AES/JP games. The English neo logo on the front looks a little out of place to me too. I love teh Jp inserts/art so I buy all of my AES games JP... Nice job, can't wait to see a complete one.

This is my take on what you´re trying to do on the spine, I made it quickly using parts of my kizuna insert.

I def like the finished product. The backround color is really sweet and pleasing to the eyes. I've always like the artist rendering of the characters themselves(esp handrawn, charcoal, penciled, etc) over the game graphics stuff. This is just one of those unique covers. I also like the mini-screen on the title edge...def a unique concept. As long as the color code is used at the bottom (red for fighters, blue for shmups, etc), i would be willing to change several covers to accomodate that. Keep up the good work mane!
