Factory sealed NEO AES carts question

I found a dealer that has a "factory sealed" copy of a particular common AES title I've been looking for at a decent price.

Can someone confirm what a "Factory Sealed" Neo cart should feature? Are they referring to sealed as in the AES case being shrinkwrapped or sealed as in the little clear Neo Geo logo sticker?

Also, I would imagine that the Carton Boxed games used to be shrinkwrapped when they were sold new...am I right?

Just want to make sure that I'm getting a genuine sealed copy and not something that they shrinkwrapped in a backroom somewhere like they do at Gamestop.

carts are never shrink wraped. all new games in old style cases had the seal sticker while SOME in snap lock cases (up to MOTW) had case seal stickers.

What about the carton boxed games? I have a few (all were purchased used) and there's no sticker residue which tells me that they must have been shrinkwrapped NES-style when they were new.

No, simply sold opened, just as the Japan market is.

Wow. That's interesting to know.

I'll ask the dealer for a pic of the sealed game I want to buy and I'll see if the sticker has been tampered with.

Also, I didn't realize that games (carton boxed) were sold unsealed in JPN. Why is this? How do you really know if something is truly new then? Also, aren't instances of shoplifting higher in Japan when things are shrinkwrapped?

sticker resedue can be washed off with a damp washcloth....I have to do it when I buy a used game for another system at EB, when they put like 5 stickers on.

why don't you just ask the guy who is selling the game, if it's brand new or re-sealed?

It's actully pretty easy to tell.
You can't judge by the case or box, as even new ones could have been damaged in transit.

The only sure fire way is to look at the cart pcb pins.
The pcb is soft, & will get small scrathes from being inserted into a Neo's card slot.
If there are absolouty no scrathes, it's new.
If they used it, you'll see the marks.
Once you've bought a new cart, you can compare to an older one & really see the difference.

Just remember, new doesn't mean mint.
Sometimes you can find used items in as good or better condition than NOS.

That sounds like something Gamestop does when they try to con you into buying one of their "Display" games.

"These have never been played...we just take the game out and put the case out on display--we have a shrinkwrap machine out back and can shrinkwrap it for you, good as new!" Yeah right! I've overheard employees before saying that they took such and such game home for the weekend to "try" out on loan from the store.

Ive gotten a lot of games from Japan that have the cartridge shrinkwrapped with the manual inside the box. I think they do it just to keep the carts and manuals untouched until they get sold.

Another wierd thing, I have actually gotten 2 different new Japanese Samurai2 carts over the years that have been entirely shrinkwrapped on the outside... not in a cheesy way but in a way that looks rather official, with folds in the shrinkwrap corners etc...
