Evercade just announce a partnership with SNK for new NEOGEO products.
My guess it will be some kind of stand alone unit that take Evercade carts. Just like the Alpha.
But what I'm really hoping for are NEOGEO games on cartridge for play on any Evercade hardware.

  • Blaze Entertainment brands include Evercade and HyperMegaTech! officially licensed retro gaming products and physical cartridge releases for use on hardware like Evercade EXP-R, VS-R, and Alpha bartop arcade machines, as well as Super Pocket devices.
  • SNK is the creator of the NEOGEO arcade and home console systems, featuring great franchises including Metal Slug, The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and more.
  • New products to be released throughout 2025 and 2026.
  • Further updates and 2025 product line-up to be announced in Late Q1 2025.

The announcement specifically mentions Metal Slug, The King of the Fighters and Fatal Fury. I'm guessing that means they'll be among the first for whatever is coming.

My guesses:

- bad emulation with sound problems and dropped frames
- Input lag
- No options to change anything if they decide to use MVS US with default settings, or maybe they will use AES US mode.
- and therefore in both cases censored games
- selection of games on cartridges not by series, but by "mix the shit games with the top ones to sell more volumes"

Hope I will be wrong.

I refuse to rebuy neo geo games. I must've spent tens of thousands between AES, MVS, ports, etc over the years. But cool for folks just coming into this

None of this will matter - the people buying this stuff will only be placing it on a shelf as an aphrodisiac for mail order brides

Isn't this just new cards for existing Evercade devices? There are a ton of them. Adding SNK collections on top of them is barely news.

My experience with every Evercade cart I've gotten, the emulation and options have been very good. Basic, perhaps, but not bad at all. They've put a ton of work into some of the PSX ports, and the Duke Nukem remasters are excellent. I played Batsugun Special for a good hour and no lag, no problems or weirdness. Felt exactly as I remember with my PCB.

Don't get me wrong, Evercade is still dumb, but they're way better than other licensed cash grabs IMO -I would recommend an Evercade EXP w/SNK carts over that retarded Unico handheld any day.

I've logged enough time on my Evercade VS and Super Pocket to be confident that the emulation is good. Never once have I thought about performance, I was just able to play. *I know there have been issues, but from the problems I've seen Evercade has fixed them.
The Super Pocket is a bit too small and doesn't offer any kind of button mapping, which is unfortunate. But the VS is just great.
I know I'll be buying some or all of these Evercade SNK carts. However, I will be disappointed if these SNK games are only offered built into new hardware. I don't want more Alpha's or Super Pockets. Just carts to play on the hardware I already have.

I think it's neat and if SNK can make a few bucks why not.
I predict a generic six button bartop cab & maybe a handheld with SNK/NEO•GEO branding and MVS colours.

Yeah, they'll milk it for all it's worth. But I imagine a KOF cart, a Metal Slug cart, maybe a sports cart, etc etc

Well I have to admit I should play my VS more often. Seems they fixed some problems I had with RodLand arcade. (y)
The graphics are now brighter and most of the sound problems are gone, but there is still a little music sounding quite off, the first interval (after second level) in the second level set (the search for dad).
But maybe they will fix it in the future. Took 2 years to fix the first bugs, so I'll have to be patient. :giggle:

On the other hand, Neo Geo emulation does not need big resources and the emulators are quite perfect for a long time, so emulation could be fine.
I'm still skeptical about the blood thing and selection of titles for the cartridges.
(If there will be cartridges of course and not another special Evercade hardware with the games build in.)

Like to have arcade ikari warriors cart with more old rotary games like TNK3 and S.A.R.

Just give me a quality 2P sized bartop that has the full collection of games, or a handheld that isn't some generic junk with a click stick, a properly sized screen, and again, the full collection of games.

I'm so sick of these piecemeal releases, and I'm sure as fuck not going to deal with physical cartridges again unless it's the actual real hardware.

The chances of this happening are pretty much nil. But you can create your own that'd be leagues better than any commercial offering

I'm aware on both. It's unfortunate really.

The bartop I actually plan to do eventually, but the handheld we're at the mercy of the manufacturers.

Would be nice if someone made a Steam Deck mod for a click stick, then it'd be perfect.

I ordered the Evercade Street Fighter bartop despite having no interest in any existing Evercade cartridges.

Hopefully this new partnership leads to some cartridges with Neo Geo games as I'd definitely buy at least a couple to leave plugged into the bartop to expand its library.

Doubt SNK will be as strict with licensing as Capcom is, so there's got to be a decent shot here of carts.

These controllers confirmed working with it.

Appreciate the tip. But I just plan on playing one player mode in bed if my wife has a TV show on I'm not interested in.

Hard to imagine two players on an 8" screen. I'm sure some will try it, but I won't be one of them.
