So, as I've pretty much got all the home ports of shmups I enjoy, I've been giving thought to getting the PCB's for those you can't get on home console - Batrider, Battle Bakraid etc

I'm not going back down the cab route as I have no room and my wife would kill me... probably literally...

So, any recommendations on a Supergun and where I can buy one? :conf:

I really like the build quality of the Sigma units. I rarely see them for sale here but I know they got tons in Japan.

I loved my Sigma AV7000 when I owned it. The only downside was that I keep my apt cold in the winter (about 6 months out of the year) and the stick was always pretty damn cold.

You have to bring the heat when you play yo.

Yeah, I've always heard good things about the sigmas, but never found anywhere that actually sells them! In fact I'd probably buy a sigma if I could find an outlet for them.

I got a sega blast city supergun bought on this forum...i am pretty happy with it since it is very massive and feels the real deal.

The pana twin is also a very good unit.My friend is selling one in France but I guess ship to Cayman will be a killer.

Ah, shipping would be to the uk... however, I'm not sure I'd want a Pana Twin, good unit I'm sure, but they're quite big and bulky and I really need something that can give me "arm-chair" play, if that makes any sense?!

If you're in the uk, it wouldn't be too difficult to build one, since you can use a scart plug and don't have to mess about with all the video encoder stuff, failing that, I think idchappy sells uk superguns, you'd still need a pc power supply and joystick, but it's all very easy.

I don't have the inclination to build one, I really don't have the time... although a part of me wouldn't mind giving it a go if time allowed.

I've seen those vogatek guns, and they look, um, cheap... I'd really like something of sigma quality I think.

Fair enough. Totally valid comment, you get what you pay for, but then again, you pay for what you get, if you get me... Building my own one appealed to me, cause I like building stuff almost as much as playing the games, but if you don't have that inclination, then that's not the way to go... From all that i've heard, the vogatek superguns work just fine, but i can't confirm that. When I first got into neo/arcade boards, I tried to buy one from the guy who made them and he never sent it/but still took my money. (Sure that wasn't idchappy though, think he bought a bunch of them to sell on).

Maybe one day I'll give it some consideration... Between work, family and other little projects, I just don't have time now... heh, barely have the time to play the games! lol

The more I look into this the more I want a Sigma AV7000, but finding one looks like it'll be a challenge :)

Don't want to annoy you Tarma, but here's a pic I recently took of my Sigma running Bakraid, albeit through a TATE'd LED TV.

I really rate owning a Supergun, don't have too many games, but it always seems better playing them through hardware rather than emulation.

I got lucky getting my Sigma - although that was many, many years ago - I think from VGI.

Speaking of which, VGI has this monster in at the moment.

Nice set up!

if VGI had got a Sigma in stock I'd have bought it by now!! :D

Yeah, seen that Vega, not really my cup of tea tbh. I'll hold out for a Sigma to turn up, there's no rush, got plenty of games to be getting on with in other systems :)

actually just got into PCBs myself (complete and utter noob). Since it was the fastest solution, I went with Jasens Custom supergun, and I was actually blown away by the quality of the build. you'll be going to be paying the same price for a sigma unit if you go through that dingus STV/Japan Dealer - and I wanted to use my own sticks anyway.

my haul was armed police batrider korean version B, great mahou daisakusen (battery changed May 2013), and I currently have a converted Progear on the way. expensive hobby :O and my addiction started right when I got back from the Chicago Shmupsmeet earlier this month.
