Do you think they calculated they had about a year to get the game released on all platforms before it gets cracked, as in GG Aleste 3? That's not actually what they did, right?

The game has reviewed very well so far, at least among the few who have covered it. I've played it, and yeah I think it's great so far. It really knows how to scratch that 'console shooter' itch. It has the right combination of graphics and sound that make exploding a screen full of stuff so satisfying. The shield system adds a layer of forgiveness for modern players, but the screen can be so busy, rarely slowing down, so it remains difficult.

Yeah i wanna know this exactly.
Apparently not. It's encrypted. However, as discussed a decrypted rom is becoming widely available but it only works in emulator, Mister or Everdrive Pro since the rom is over 7 megs. But it's really just a matter of time.

I'm gonna try in emulator when I get time. I've only played the steam release for about 10 minutes but it's pretty damn good. The CRT filters being some of the best I've seen in a release like this.

Im over here with the everdrive pro waiting.
Koshiro and Co. fucked this up. Digital is always a mistake to release first. Some asshole is gonna tear it apart and then @awbacon is gonna fag it up with YT content

I don't think this will stop the people that wanted a legitimate copy of the game to get one, though. Same with all homebrew really.

I bought the game on steam but I don't have the everdrive Pro so the PC is where I'll be playing this until the game releases on cartridge.

My shooter skillz are very rusty... I can make it to stage 3 if I continue feed

Not quite a bullet hell game, but there's lots of projectiles and even attacks that come at you from the background layer

Haha I saw that. I bet he's not even close to the worst on twitter either but jesus christ this entitlement. Wow, what a dick.

I think there's a good chance Mr. Koshiro already knew it would get pirated and accepted it. He probably didn't expect on day 2 though. As @Burning Fight!! already pointed out, people will probably still buy it anyway, and as he said, he just wants the game to be the best it can be (using the digital version to fix bugs).

There are probably sales being lost in countries where piracy is rampant.

If Koshiro knew it would get pirated, there's no way he would've released in on steam day one. He’s been working on this game for years. Now he's going to lose tons of money on it. Sure, the hardcore goobs, and consumers of youtube chud will buy physical copies, but there are thousands of gamers who will just download teh rom and be done with it.

He may be a great game developer, but his business sense is off. Or at the very least, he was blind to the rampant piracy that dominates the "retro gaming" industry. Perhaps that isn't as prevalent in Japan, I don't know. But if no one on his team warned him about the inevitability of it, he's surrounded by yes men. And if someone in his circle did warn him, and he disregarded it at the incentive of "steam money," he's just oblivious to how things work on the internet.
