I have a lot of trouble doing Dragon punches in SvCC. Am I the only one? Seems like the FDF moves only work when done EXTREMELY fast.

I cheat by doing a double fireball and stopping at the d/f point then press punch

Try holding the DF position when you press punch. It seems to work better. You can't really cheat like the old days by walking + throw fireball (how I learned to do it). The moves are pretty strict in this game, especially when compared to Capcom games in general (SNK always has strict motions).

Holding the DF position does help. I was pretty technical in learning all of the moves when SF came out waaay back. The degree of control varies within each successive fighters I have played from Capcom.

Scalpeur told me that he could pull this move really easily. I have to say that he only plays SNk fighting games so perhaps he's used to the way SNK makes DP.

I have no problems. Only problems I have are with Charge moves they seem to be very tricky.

Ive had no problems doing this move where I play. Maybe its your sticks?

Actually that's why I asked. I installed a set of Happ Ultimates into my Candy and I have a lot of trouble with the move now. With the japanese sticks it was pretty easy. But I hate that type of stick.

In the arcade I play at, DP's as well as combos into DP's work no problem. Just do it fast.

Forgot to mention I found this game to have one of the best detections for shoryukens. I can do V. Ken's teleport so crisply.

Have you tried the cheating way?

F - Neutral - DF + Button

Works in most Neo games except for AOF.

Always? You mean like kof 97?

KOF 97 is a loose game in terms of the juggling and combos, but not movement motions. It's still a lot stricter than most Capcom games.

I don't find doing DP hard, however I have HUGE problem on executing charge moves (e.g. Guile's Somersault Kick).

Any tips?

Charge down, hit up + kick. Problem solved.

How about the time to charge the moves, does it matter?

Do you just hold down briefly (say 1 second) and hit up+kick or does it have to be longer than that?

Regular timing. Not like the superfast Remy flash kick. Then again, you can constantly throw out sonic booms, which you can't do in most SF games.

It looks like i'm not the only one who think that the dragon punche moves for the characters are hard to do, especially for the Capcom characters. I would try doing a DP motion with Kyo and instead out comes his flame punch and the same thing would happen when I play as Ryu, instead of his DP coming out, instead I hear "Hadoouken!". The only way that I want to get the motion out is if that I have to hold the df part until my character does it.

I have no probs doing this motion. But if you just changed the sticks it might be possible that the Happ stick is longer and so the motion itself takes a slight bit more time to do, thus throwing your timing off. Otherwise make sure there's no wires in the way of the switch or something.

Cool, thanks for the tips mog!

I'll start practising then.

Cool. The sonic boom shit is pretty irritating. Pretty much the instant a sonic boom connects you can throw another one out, even if you're pretty close to the other guy.
