Got downtime too.

Maybe they had a prob with the European inet backbone (eBone) in Frankfurt and thus only Europeans were affected.

Wouldn't this cause problems with other sites too though?

It was only this site I had a problem with

sometimes , you just get the 'this database has encountered an error - please email the admin, etc etc"

now, I hardly think thats not related to this site.

Regional internet routing is a strange beast... I had the weirdest effects in one region while another one had no probs whatsoever, even though both were connected to the same backbone.

Ah well, poor MySQL has quite a lot of work to do with the ng.com forums, sometimes it needs a bit of spare time... ;)

Not just Europe, as I was unable to connect from Japan.

This same problem happens to me late at night. Not all the
time, but sometimes, usually on the weekend.

I got an email back from shawn saying it was the hosting company, and the servers have been fine.

I'd love to say the problem was just with members outside the united states:tickled:

But I had some problems connecting to the site around (i believe) 2:30am CST (GMT-6).

I was browsing the forums, clicked on a link, and then all of the sudden a new forum page wouldn't load.

What are we to do without our ng.com?

lol

4 hours at school today with nothing to do, and I couldn't get on either. Suffice it to say I was devastated :crying:

Last night around 3:00 am too...

I'm a loser with no life :oh_no:

The last two times this forum has had downtown, I noticed MySpace was also down ( page shows, but you can't log in ).

Both came back at the same time.
