To expand's Rugals answer, yes, there is individual endings for the character. However, getting them is pretty tough. You have to fight the final bosses who are Athena and Red Arremar in order to get the endings. Getting to the final bosses is the hard part though. I still haven't figured out how to get them, all I know is that you have to end your matches with a super and do not use any continues.

Infact, dont lose any rounds up to shin mr karate or shin akuma and win all matches with a no blocks finish and you will fight Athena,
to fight Red arremer, you have to do the same but win one round where the opponent blocks on the last move.
if however you win more than one round where the opponent blocks the last move, then you wont get to fight either of them.

You can use continues too.

I think there have been over 50 threads on this subject by now and I still see people giving out the wrong advice

I've gotten to Red Arremer quite a few times now without winning through block damage.

I do believe that to get to Red you have to win so many rounds with a special move, and to get to Athena you have to win so many rounds with an exceed.

That's the info I got from GameFAQ's anyway...

Meaning that you get a different ending depending on whether you defeat Athena or Red Arremer? Or are there other stipulations that can alter the ending recieved?

Also, since I still haven't gotten a real ending yet, do most of the characters, lets say Ryu, get the same ending no matter which boss he defeats?

I thought if you did well enough to fight Athena or Red Arremer(sp?). You didn't fight Serious Karate or Shink Akuma.

I know it's a bitch. I did figure out that I will fight Zero as a mid-boss everytime, if I win all my matches using an Exceed. I'm guessing I'll fight Red or Athena if I win every match with an Exceed. I've only been able to win 7 of 8 matches with an Exceed, I always fuck up with one character....then I just end up fighting Shin Akuma.
