Do fake Sanwa parts actually exist?

I've been shopping around for some new buttons and I'm looking for the best deal, but obviously I don't wanna get burned and end up with counterfeit parts. I'm wondering if anyone has actually encountered counterfeit Sanwa buttons before. I'm not talking about the 30mm buttons that sellers on eBay list and "replacement for Sanwa", I'm talking about actual counterfeit buttons that are actually advertised as OBSF-30 and say Sanwa on them. Anyone have any pictures of buttons that are verified as fakes?

I would think making fake 3 dollar buttons might be a little extreme.

That's what I was thinking, but people all over the internet seem to think they exist. I'm looking for some actual evidence. Right now I don't see any reason to stick with "reputable websites" like everyone always suggests.

I have a couple of buttons that "look" like sanwas, but have no type of name or anything on them. the switches inside of them are huge though.

Just buy from a reputable seller.

There's fake electronics components of all kind, so i wouldnt be surprised if there was fake sanwa buttons.

I would think it would be cost prohibitive to make molds again for 3 dollar buttons, but like you said, it's totally possible.

But that's my thing, it's just cheaper to buy Sanwa, they even say it's from Japan. Course take that with a grain of salt mind you.

They won't be from Japan, Sanwa stuff probably isn't even made in Japan. Look at the link I posted after I edited it, Sanwa "copy"

http://au.alibaba.com/product/721233830-Copy-Sanwa-OBSF-30-Push-Button.html

A handy tip for anybody ever contemplating buying from China: The chinese do not sell products from other countries. Why? Because their tariffs on imported products is huge. All they do is export export export to encourage the growth of their own industries.

Like I mentioned in the first post, I'm not talking about buttons that are just meant to be replacements or advertised as copies. I'm talking about actual straight up bootlegs made by another copy and have Sanwa stamped on them.

Yes, they exist. Look at the link I posted. They advertise them as copies but they will write SANWA, SEIMITSU, DEEZ NUTZ, whatever you want on them. There is no doubt that knock offs are going around out there.

Do a Search for "Sanwa" on Alibaba.com

Look at how many factories are pumping out "legit" Sanwa parts

So the same company is selling some buttons as actual legit Sanwas and some as copies. If the ones they are selling as legit ones are a little bit more, it's not impossible that they are actual Sanwa parts. I realize 90% of the shit on Alibaba is not actual name brand stuff, but there are definitely sellers on there selling real product.

I've only seen a couple threads on the internet saying "I bought Sanwa parts and they were fake" and the parts were actually bought from a well known American website that people here would probably consider reputable. (the claims of the parts being wrong turned out to by false anyway)

Just for the hell of it I messaged the seller to ask about the parts:

ca1006401384(2013-11-20 01:36:36):
I noticed you list some buttons as "Sanwa Copies" and some as "Sanwa. These buttons are genuine Sanwa right?
cn1000360897(2013-11-20 01:37:01):
sanwa is original
cn1000360897(2013-11-20 01:37:13):
copy sanwa is china made.the price is cheaper

It's $36.50 for 10 buttons shipped. I'm almost tempted to order some and compare them to known legit Sanwa parts.

most chinese factories "backdoor" what they make on the black market. So I'm sure that you can find sanwa's own stuff for cheaper in china, before it's shipped back to japan, put in retail packages and marked up ;)

Sanwa stuff is made in Japan and NOT in China. Buying sanwa from a Chinese seller is defeating the purpose.
