Hey everyone,

Does anyone know what the difference is between:

Samurai Shodown IV U.S., and
Samurai Shodown IV Korean

???

Are there any differences in the insert, manual, sticker, cart or gameplay?

The only thing that I can see is that the Korean version
doesn't have the GOLD warning sticker on the cart.

and the Korean version is a lot cheaper!

Thanks,

I think the only actual differences on the physical parts
of the game (Cart, manual, case), is that it says
"Made in Korea" in the back of the cart.

Also the case has something different in color department,
but don't remember pretty well.

The main differences are in the gameplay though. White blood,
Japense voices removed, different dialogue and NO FATALITIES!

The korean one is a shit version... I don't know why it has so much value : no introduction, no voice before the fight and no blood... really not worth it !!! Apart from that, manual and case is the same than the us one. However the cart have the specification "made in korea"

Thanks guys!

I guess Korean games get censored.
Best to stick with the U.S. or JPN version!

Thanks!

I thought all cart games were identical and only the region of the AES system censored violence?

Don't waste your money on the Korean version. Save yourself some money and get the Jap version.

Is this the only cart that is region censored no mater what region system it is played on?:conf:

I think they might be a few release of korean game like real bout special and art of fighting 3 but anyway, let's stick to the genuine one, the US and JP version.

Ran across this tread and wanted to comment based on my findings.

There are 4 versions of Samurai Shodown IV

1. Japanese (different name Samurai Spirits and artwork than US and Korean version)
2. US (may come with yellow warning label, made in Japan on the back and normal black cart shell)
3. Korean Fixed (same insert and manual as US, no yellow sticker, greyish cart shell, Made in Korea on back of the cart) This version is heavily censored and cannot be fixed by the unibios as the name change and sound was removed along with other things. There is no intro animation. During the character's win their mouth is moving but no speech is coming out of it.
4. Korean Unfixed (same insert and manual as US, no yellow sticker, greyish cart shell, Made in Korea on back of the cart) This version is not censored. Only way to tell is to pop the cart in as far as I know. This version works with the unibios

I believe the Korean Unfixed is the most rare followed by the US version but I could be wrong. It's a gamble to purchase a Korean version without testing first.

Some games have revisions determined by the ROMs and cannot be changed using a Unibios. Many Korean versions of NG fighting games removed dialogue/animations, and some games like Storm Troopers have revisions significant for gameplay.

Your usual white blood censorship and missing animations like Mai's breasts in King of Fighters can be easily fixed by changing the region.
