I played D2 even after D3 because D3 fucking sucks monkey ass and I hate it.Throw in some corpse explosions for good effect.
I was still actively playing D2 up until D3 launched. But that’s been, what - 10 years ago?

Not sure if it counts as an indy at this point, but I picked up Hades when it dropped for PS5 and it delivers the Diablo gameplay fix better than anything since Diablo II. I'll still probably get the remake despite Blizzard's heel turn because D2 is one of the best games ever made, but I'm wondering how well it will stack up after all this time.Indies and Japanese games are where it's at.
Hades is, pardon the pun, god tier. Fucking excellent game with a more addictive gameplay loop than I thought it would have. On a narrative level, it's also self aware and while I don't really like anachronistic dialogue in games based on mythology (laaaaaaaaaaazy writing), it's not postmodern, deconstructionist self loathing trash. You can tell the writers have great affection for Greek mythology but also aren't afraid to have some fun with it. Not sure about the anachronistic bit (in context) but tbh I find a story to be more respectable when its based on mythology. Lets face it, most writers, especially in video games, are fucking bad at their job. Very rarely do you see totally original lore that isn't retarded or in poor taste. Taking a classical approach I think is very tasteful. But this is an opinion from someone who finds mythologies & societies therein from Greece / Rome to be some of the most fascinating stuff ever. Personal preference.anachronistic dialogue in games based on mythology (laaaaaaaaaaazy writing),

You'd think the Cyberpunk 2077 deblacle would help getting finished games at release...
nope.
As of December 2020 the game had made $609 million in digital sales alone. Who knows how much more in physical retail, and how much more in the nine months since then. You'd think the Cyberpunk 2077 deblacle would help getting finished games at release...

So true. All you have to do is building a good rep first by making your own Witcher 3.As of December 2020 the game had made $609 million in digital sales alone. Who knows how much more in physical retail, and how much more in the nine months since then.
So the lesson everyone learned is that you absolutely DON'T have to finish your games before release.
