iPhone, iPod, iPad. "spring 2011"

Just saw this. Haven't heard it mentioned before.

Before you snicker... I invite you to play Espagaluda and DoDonpachi. They are legit and using touch for shooters might be the most satisfying way to play I've ever seen. Combined with Tate style vertical displays and horizontal for this it becomes very very attractive.

Same here. I'm not sure how they port these, but It can't be THAT hard to change the resolution on these things. I'll gladly give them more dollars.

It's probably just a Cave thing, they probably just need an iPad squad over there. I'm sure they'll get on it.

That being said the games look GREAT scaled up to ipad anyways. Theyre supposed to be kinda blocky. Deathsmiles I think will be a little rougher. I'm looking forward to it.

You've got to give it to Cave though. With these Mobile releases, Deathsmiles IIX and Akai Katana being released so close together... They are definately not slacking and really pushing STG's to the next level. I love these guys.

So "Spring 2011"

I get the feeling this game could just drop at any second. Especially with it being E3 season. Let's hope they don't tease us too much.

Just wanted to say that I am looking forward to Deathsmiles also. I recently picked up DoDonpachi and Espagaluda and they both amazed me at how well they were ported to iOS. I would have never thought that touch controls for shooters would work but they work great. I have mixed feelings about the iOS port of Fast Striker though. The control doesn't feel as solid as Cave's games.

On a side note, are there any other iOS shooters worth checking out?

InfinityGene is quite good on iOS. rRootage is free and you're probably already familiar with that on other platforms. Might want to check out Icarus-X as well.

Esp and DDP are definitely the cream of the crop though.

I have been curious how these games transfer to a touch based handheld. Perhaps I will con my younger brother into buying them on his iphone.

Esp is the best on the platform IMO. iPhone mode is insanely fun and works really well. Not so much in the case of DDP; it's still good though.

Great to hear, did you have a chance to play DoDonPachi as well?

I liked DoDonPachi on iPhone fine.
ESP and DDP both have trial modes. Go try them out!

I like DDP better then Espy so I'm bias if you'd ask me which my favorite is. I paid the full 8 bucks for DDP and the 6 for Espy when it was on sale and love them both. I hope they don't shrink the screen too much on DeathSmiles. The biggest problem with Sega's console ports isn't the emulation its the way you pretty much need to see the entire screen to play the game. So when I got Gunstar Heroes for a dollar I played it up to the second stage and stopped. Your fingers cover up too much of the screen in the normal view mode and if you play it in the windowed mode your fingers aren't the problem it's the characters are WAY too small. And with tons of shit coming at you from all sides it's not even fun to sit there and squint at the screen.

The issue with finger spacing was exactly the concern I shared. If I can convince one of my family members to let me give it a try, I will probably go with DDP.

The reason I prefer Esp to DDP on iPhone is simply because of the iPhone mode. It just works better in the case of Esp where as DDP is more gimmicky in that respect. Just my opinion though. You can't really go wrong with either.

EXCELLENT!

Thanks so much for posting that up Moon Jump!

I am officially STOKED for this game. The only other IOS game I really was antsy to release was Mirrors Edge. Great to see some great games coming to the devices!

Took a screenshot of the new character "Tiara"

I loved both DDP & Espgaluda on iPhone and since I haven't tried Deathsmiles on X360, I'm excited to try it for iPhone. Hoping it's $4.99 or less. Tiara is looking good.

Knowing Cave it's going to be 8 or 10 bucks, but maybe five on a sale. They cost a lot, but you get what you pay for.

Well, early adopters of Esp and DDP only paid $5. I'd imagine they'll do the same with this for the first week. So if you know you're going to get it, pay attention to the release date so you can get it cheaper for that first week.
