Apparently they have another title in the works... Some kind of side scrolling shooter ? Meh... I can't remember now, Fakk will.

$700 for a homebrew game (Blah, blah, it looks professional; the reason why people pay butt loads of money for expensive AES titles is because of their value and 100% authenticity as an original SNK(Playmore) title) still is out of the traditional Neo-Geo pricing. It's even worse when you know for a fact that the game will be ported in BETTER forms to other formats (There's no more exclusive quality for the title; you know that you're basically paying butt loads of money for an inferior version. The developer's used this version to see what people didn't like about it, and then made those changes to this cheaper DC port).
QFT... I think a few saw this comming in the drama during 1st run release. I didn't see it but in hindsight I'm glad I got out of the AES version when I did (moving more into to MVS at that point.)

Gokenks326 said:
Oh, and I expected them to do an MVS release as well for max profits (You should release different versions of the game from most expensive to least expensive to maximize profits; first get all the people that'll pay $700 for it, then all the people that'd pay $300 (Guessed MVS price), then all the people that'd pay $60 (Guessed NGCD price), then you have the cheap DC release).

Agreed but with the eventual aim at mass appeal thus concreting new developer profile ?...
Well the jobs already done mate.

I fear It will never see MVS release, probably it will fall by the wayside in light of future developments.... Any news on the NGCD release ?

I'd hate to think the Neo was just the proving grounds then pushed aside afterwards.

Most of the DC shooters I play are the newer 3D ones, so it'll be hard going back to a purely 2D shooter but I think I'll pick this up.

Ahhh... Yeah, that was it !
I think it's high time Timm posted here again to be honest...

Confirm the commitment to developing for a system he and his bro professes to love (loved ?... We don't know.)
There is no doubt Last Hope is a very competent shooter...

Break my fucking heart if the Neo was cast aside in amour of mass appeal madness after DC fury, forgotten in the dev teams plans and criticism on this site was taken as anything other than new ideas.

Fuck it Timm, I'll say it... Lay it on down

Where you going mate ?

EDIT: Posts 26 @ 30's underlying theme are as subtle to me as a slap in the face.

I should add I'm not criticising the dev team here, quite the contrary.
I'm just scared such an obviously talented team will be eaten up by bigger fish in the long run and we loose out or they decide to ditch the Neo in favour of mainstream forever.

QFT on what Alec said below, support the NGCD and damn...
While your at it sign up for the MVS anyway, we don't know what it's gonna cost, we don't even have the feedback on both (future ?) releases.

Support the interest innit

But isn't there Legal stuff relating to Making Mvs, Due to the reason for Mvs is to make money.
Then just don't put in the credit system with the coins and all, and just leave it like AES. Even LESS work!

I hope more games like this come out - and the price isn't bad too compared to the joke of xbox 360 game prices.
Aren't the 360 prices just normal software prices?

I thought the Neo Geo CD version was supposed to come out the same time as the Dreamcast version. I still think that's going to happen. Hopefully the NGCD version will also release in September, and it's just not listed on play-asia.com because they're not going to carry it. They make it sound like these "Exclusive CD Game Modes" are also on the NGCD. Hopefully the NGCD will be $40 too.

Anyone who can should buy the NGCD version over the Dreamcast one. The Dreamcast is a port, and the NGCD is going to use the original game program. It's a no-brainer. The DC version is still a good platform choice for the publishers as a mainstream alternative though.

I personally am not getting the DC version and am waiting for the NGCD release. I hope you guys like your DC version though. ;) I still love my AES version of Last Hope and will never sell it. I've gotten used to the difficulty of the game so reducing the amount of debris in the explosions or reducing the speed of the bullets does nothing more but take some of the beauty away from this game. Making it easier for people to play is simply un-needed as I can get to the final boss now with little to no problems and I'm not even really good at shooters. The only real advantage to a CD version of this game will be the music tracks and that's what I'm buying the NGCD version for.

Oh and the next game they plan to make for the Neo-Geo (if they do) will be a top down shooter kind of like Alpha Mission II. I will be buying that as well, even though I prefer side scrolling shooters.

The Dreamcast version should be ready by the end of this month, the NGCD version should be done by Christmas. But since we know how long it took for them to release the Neo-Geo AES version I would guess that the DC version won't be ready till Xmas and the NGCD version most likely wont be available till Jan-March. But that's just my guess.

The differences between the NGCD and DC versions should be minimal, but as everyone knows the DC has more available RAM so the DC port should be pixel perfect. The NeoCD version might be missing frames here and there. So you might ask WHY I choose the NeoCD version over the DC version? I guess that's simple. I support NeoCD over the DC because I actually still play the NeoCDZ from time to time whereas the DC never gets played at my house. So I choose the NGCD version.

Well, if I can manage to get $40 that I won't be spending on Christmas or trees, then I'll put it towards this release. The only game I've ever preordered in my life was Ikaruga for dreamcast, but I would gladly preorder this title if I can make it happen before December. Its nice to see a version coming that I can finally play.

edit: its also nice to see that this will be a "region free" release. If I had to use the boot disc every time I wanted to play it, I would have had to think long and hard about the purchase.

Why do so many people want the DC version? Doesn't anyone still have a Neo Geo CD system? The game is programmed specifically to work within the confines of the Neo Geo hardware specs. If you play it on the DC you're playing a port. You're using hardware that is made to do a great number of other things and run at higher resolution to play an old school style Neo Geo shooter.

People want to play it now and don't want to wait until the NGCD release (And it's only $40...). Others don't have an NGCD and don't care if they're playing a "port"; as long as it plays nearly as good as, if not better, than the AES release then people will get the DC release.

The NGCD release was supposed to come at about the same time, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions about it not coming out next month yet. Like I said earlier, I think play-asia just isn't going to carry the NGCD version, so that's why we're not seeing it yet. The only other reason I could think of is that they're still securing a publisher for the NGCD version. At any rate, it shouldn't be too long. The NGCD version has gotta be easier to make than the DC one.

You could always buy the NGCD version and play it on the DC using the NGCD emu (thou I have never tried the emu out i hear it runs full speed, thou I have not looked into it)

Check out this little thread if you want more info on that DC boot disc.

Anyways... That NGCD boot disc for DC works awesome with some games, who knows if it'll work with Last Hope though. But unless you strictly collect NGCD games, you might as well just get the Dreamcast version.

There isn't a thread for the Neo Geo CD yet. The Last Hope site needs to update us with information about this soon. They probably still haven't finalized the deal yet.

Not in Melbourne, Australia - GC, PS2, XB games average around AU$60-AU$80 for a new release - whereas xbox 360 games seem to be consistantly around $100-$110.

What a rip.:very_ang: I suppose that makes the play-asia.com region free 360 deals for around 40 USD awesome chances to get some newer games.
