So, yeah... this one hurts.

Watching his work for the first time was a driving force behind me getting into films more seriously than I had prior.

To this day, Eraserhead sits up there as one of my favorite films that unsettles me greatly upon every viewing.

An absolute fucking legend in every sense of the word.

I usually don't shed a tear for Hollywood celebrities, but Lynch was one of the good guys. And a true artist, even if I don't pretend to enjoy and understand some of his later stuff. Elephant Man, Eraserhead and the pilot of Twin Peaks are masterpieces. And I enjoy Dune for what it is, a visionary movie full of interesting ideas - bordering on silly, 'cause the man had balls - that was destroyed in editing (I'd rather watch that one than Villeneuve's empty landscapes anyway). I'll miss the old man.

Never was a fan of his style (outside of Eraserhead/Elephant Man) but you can't deny his contributions to the history of movies/TV. A huge loss for his fans and the world of film.

I remember in an interview he talked about Jack Nance entering the elevator in Eraserhead and not being able to film him coming out until over four years later. Such a miracle that got finished and that he got to make everything he did after that. Also hard to believe its been over 9 years since Bowie died.

Fuuuuuck! Wow, that sucks. He's made some fantastic movies and shorts, and obviously Twin Peaks is fucking great. One of my favorite directors ever. RIP

I also agree that his Dune is better than the new ones.

Not a slight to his work, but I always struggled to understand or be entertained by a lot of his work. I absolutely love his style though and enjoy watching his work in spite of myself, if that makes sense. I introduced my wife to Lynch's industrial symphony no1 tonight. RIP

First thing I thought was, my mom is 14 years away from 78.

Second thought was, I think a person is blessed when they die a few days from their birthday. Like their journey is complete.
