Ive never been much of a Foo Fighters follower after the self titled and Colour and the Shape, but Ive always admired Dave's unrelenting love of music and making it. And Taylor was a really great drummer. Its a big loss to the music world.

50 years old is way too young to die. RIP Taylor. Great drummer, huge loss. I'm assuming the Foo Fighters are done after this. I'm pretty sure the main reason Dave kept it going was because of his friendship with Taylor. No reason to keep it now.... That's cool, the band should have been over about a decade or so ago. But this sucks, a lot.

Far, far too young. His energy was brilliant, a very physical musician, I really like that kind of drummer. Seemed like a great guy to boot.
I too agree it's been more than a decade since Foo Fighters where anything but toast. Their output has been kind of horrible, as if they went full circle.

Not been a good few months regarding great drummers (and a great singer to shake things up)

Just heard this and was pretty impressed. Did Hawkins sing on Foo Fighters songs or had another band where he did vocales? I like his stage presence

He was in another band, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, I believe he sang on that, and he had a cover band named.... something.. edit: Chevy Metal. I just remember seeing when he came into the Foo Fighters back in 95/96 and thought "Oh hey its the Alanis Morrisett drummer.."

Benzos + opioids found in his system. Not a good combo.

I never could get into the Foo Fighters which maybe is strange given I like so many bands from the same time/scene. I don’t know why...just never felt as authentic as Nirvana, Soundgarden AIC or Pearl Jam.

But regardless, very sad news. RIP

I would agree though I feel The Colour and the Shape was and is maybe the best album of that era, post Seattle scene, at least in terms of mainstream rock (I/we could probably name many other albums of that time on par)

What does this mean, M. Did Dave Grohl die? Does he pray to Kurt to tell him about new friends he makes? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

I interpret this piece of art to mean that Dave talks to Kurt in his prayers, but, how the fook should I know? 😉 I just thought it was cool.

It probably would have made more sense for Kurt to say that God had told him about Taylor, not Dave, but, I didn't make it.
Also Kurt was too much of an arsehole to be that warm. FAKE NEWS
I suspect Heaven makes one all warm and fuzzy, no matter how bad you were in life. You gotta believe, you're a devil redeemed, aren't you? Can I get an Amen, my brothers?

I remember hearing I'll Stick Around from the first record and thinking it was ok. Then a buddy sat me down and played Floaty, Exhausted and X-Static for and I was like WOAH.

I still think for a debut album by a single dude, Foo Fighters self titled is probably the best one released in the 90s. But As a whole, Colour and the Shape is a masterpiece as well.

I was a fan of Grohl's output whilst he was in Nirvana. Marigold hasn't aged so well but I remember when I heard it back then thinking it was gorgeous, gave Nirvana a trippy, delicate edge. What it was though was Grohl unfurling. Could have easily been on the first record, which I liked but the songmanship just wasn't there yet in my opinion. A really nice indie rock record but nothing mindblowing. I just don't think it's aged well, unlike some of their other stuff which is far meatier
