I was hoping to get that response.

But seriously, no. Halo 3 is not a shooter.

Off topic, but has anyone attempted to use their Saturn pads in their cabinets?

I know; amazing looking game. I've just gotten it recently for my cab...I love the hand drawn sprites rather than all the rendered shit thats in pulstar and blazing star. I'm going to try and 1c the thing...

I'm up to the level 3 boss now. what's kind of funny is there is a bit of a wild card for me in level 1, in the tunnels, fighting the tank at the same time as those slow moving ships. Also, the battleship at the start of mission 3 can get me sometimes too.

do you mainly use the red, or blue protection unit?

Yeah, it really is a beautiful game...not just the character sprites, but even the backgrounds and effects too. I was so surprised to the see the rain in level 2. And from what I heard so far, the music is great too.

level 3 is tough....havent even made it to that boss...though I couldnt even dream of 1cc-ing yet.

Hmm...well for level 1, is doesnt really matter for me in terms of which unit I use (red or blue)...but for level 2 and 3 I definitely go for the red one...the fact that it glides along the walls is a life-saver...esp around the halfway point of level 2!

Back into progear again. I'm so close to finishing first loop. Stage 5 just rips me apart though.

Battle Garegga. A lot of lives lost trying to collect the medals. I may need to get my priorities straight.

I have been playing a lot of Garegga recently too. I have been able to keep the 10,000 point medal going for quite awhile in stages 2-3

I'm also working on Battle Garegga. I've gotten pretty consistent at chain medaling (Miyamoto's speed FTW) and can keep it up through stage 5. I still haven't gotten to stage 6 in a single credit yet (Black Heart's last couple of attacks still take me out), but I'm getting there.

I started playing Ikaruga as well recently (after like, 3 years of not touching the game). It's a bit of an uphill battle to remember all the chaining as well as adapting to using a stick (I had always played with a pad before)... but I'm picking everyting back up at a decent speed.

Gradius 2 Gofer no Yabo for PCE Super CD. Great remixed soundtrack and looks nice with the PCE colors. I now want to get Gradius 1 and Salamander (Life Force) for the PCE HuCards.

Also, try Nexyz for PCE Super CD. It is pretty damn hard compared to the other Naxat Soft/Kaneko games, but really fun.

In last resort i got my strats down pretty well now, I've been playing a couple hours each day, I can make it to the last level on 1 credit; but there are few hard spots throughout that can throw a curve ball... i will list some patterns or things ive found useful...

[.] if you lose a ship in any level; the boss of that levels pattern will slightly change... for example:

if you die level 1 boss will shoot 1 blast from its red eye, instead of two in a row.

if you die level 2 boss green orbs fire further from the right, and cannot hit your ship if you are all the way to the left, with your unit locked infront...but if you dont die it will shoot its green orbs from further on the left, making it possible for them to get around your protection unit.

if you dont die in level 3, the boss will release its homing missles BEFORE opening its eye, wasting precious time on your end... it also will expose its back to you with a new pattern of attack in its 2nd form.

[tip] on the battleship at the start of mission 3... keep your unit locked at bottom position, hover where the round mech emerges from the water, thats the key of where the weak spot in the ship will appear. and pound the control room with protection unit.

so as far as 1ccing this thing... i have gotten to level 5 ...but for the most part, level 5 is easy, level 4 is harder, and the boss doesnt give you much room to move around. so i die there sometimes too. also the laser mini boss in leve 4 is hard, but ive pretty much learned his pattern.

oh yeah; i used switch between red and blue units, but i always go red now after testing in different situations...its especially useful in what i call the "hall of death" in level 2, but if you have maxed out grenade fire, then that will help you clear the ceiling and floor, instead of needing to use the red unit

wow, thnx for all the good info Ukyo, I appreciate it! I can get to level 3 pretty consistently now and can get by the battleship w/ not too many problems...still cant get to stage 4 though :(
I agree about the red unit too...definitely far superior to the blue. lol "hall of death".

Think its safe to say now that among the Neo shooters I play (Pulstar, Blazing Star, Prehistoric Isle 2, and Strikers 1945)....this is my favorite.

Armed Police Batrider!

I almost reached the 4 million mark! I'll get to 6.0 million in a couple of weeks.

Heh, thanks. Well, I assume I'm going to have to know how to properly milk all the bosses. I think I can churn at least 5.5 mil out of Batrider.

I didn't play yesterday because I fell asleep. But, I did play a little bit of Strikers 1945 II on the Sega Saturn.

recently picked up Andro Dunos, and therefore have been playing it a whole lot,
and don't get why people rag on it so much, I love the weapon system,

At release, it was visually too lacking to pay a fortune to get the cart. :/ -in France at least, the cart was around $260 if i remember correctly the change rate at the time-

I even didn't want to invest in a rental for that one, despite quite good reviews. Shame on me but i had the neo for the wow factor :/ for everything else i got the other 16bits systems.

Anyway, today i played Esp Ra De, Raiden Fighters Jet and DoDonpachi, good good good games.

Armed Police Batrider.

I make some really stupid mistakes. From there, I can't get past 3.0 mil.

Attempted and failed. Ultrimarc RGB amp proved to be incompatable. I mean I could get the picture without it, but it was way washed out. If anyone knows how to amp the Saturn's RGB levels to resemble that of a JAMMA output, please lmk.

on topic: progear on mame a little bit. wanna save up for the board.
