Didn't want to put this in the other thread, I thought it was too funny.

Not sure if it's been posted before. But I think you guys would get a kick out of this little guy.

Heh, it's cool to see such a young kid take an interest in games like these, as to most kids, these games will be completely obscure, even the Gradius series.

I wonder if he picked his shmup habit up off his dad?

Batrider... wish there was a port of this

I was wondering the same thing, I think He would have to get it from his dad or someone.

He's got some decent taste! And I'm really glad to see a younger fellow with some good taste and isn't all Naruto'd out.

Kudos kid. You've got some good taste in games. Glad to see you play more than the steady wave of Call of Duty drivel. Keep up the good work.

your a pretty awesome kid its rare you find kids who like older games any more i do know a 12 year old whose favorite system of all time is the n64 but i think he picked that up from playing with me so much :p

Hey, nice to see you drop by.

Speaking of Gradius III, I noticed that my SNES copy plays differently from the Playstation 2 copy. I wonder which one is closer to the arcade version.

Do you know what's the coolest thing about this kid? He's swaping MAME roms on the fly with keyboard commands, pretty boss if you ask me.

Cybernator5000, keep messing around with MAME, there are tons of great games in there and get yourself a nice 360 joystick so you can play with nicer parts. If you ever get an arcade cabinet and need help or have any questions don't hesitate to ask us, we'll help you all the way man!

Shine on!

The SNES version is vastly easier than the arcade.

The "arcade mode" in SNES version is unlocked by going through hard mode once, or by using a turbo controller to hold down the A button in the difficulty menu. The difficulty itself is adjustable.

On the PS2 version the Turbo Stage and Crystal Stage are absent on the SNES version. On the other hand, the High Speed maze stage and all the bonus hidden stages on the SNES version are absent on the PS2 version. Both versions have stages that are exclusive to the other, so I can't tell whether either one or both versions had some stages cut from them.

SNES version is definitely an altered version of arcade Gradius III, like Super R-Type is an altered R-Type II.

The PS2 version is the arcade port; it even allows you to keep the slowdown or remove it.

The high speed maze stage is definitely in PS2's Gradius III, it is a staple of the series...you haven't beaten the game yet.

You mean stage 7 of Gradius IV, right? The only high speed section in the ps2 version of Gradius III is the escape sequence after the final boss, and that's just a short sequence with nothing to shoot at, not an entire stage.
